Have to tell someone...UPDATE

I just tested positive..6 days before my period is due...Baby 4...I lost 2 pregnancies in between now and my last child. one very early and one at 17 weeks. I am not telling anyone about this, other than my husband (and here) until 20 weeks. But I am so bad at keeping secrets!! I am very nervous, but also excited. Please send sticky dust my way.

Is 35 considered high risk? When could I have conceived? We had a lot of baby making attempts last month, lol.

Glad to be back

Things were good..found out last Friday at 15 werks..it's a girl. Then this Friday at my routine appointment..again..no heartbeat. Sono showed no signs of life. My baby again..gone. my heart is shattered beyond repair. All my hopes..all my plans..ripped away. We named her Olivia. Although we never met...she will be missed beyond belief.

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I'm so sorry you've had a rough road! I'm sending you lots of sticky dust and ALL the strength to keep it under wraps- I know how hard it is, especially in the beginning if you're really sick. We told immediate family but no one else til 17 weeks and it was torture! Chat Icon

Congrats and best of luck!
I was 35 when i got pregnant with my first (and only) and wasn't really considered high risk for anything.

And I had an easy uneventful pregnancy.

Congrats!!! That’s really great!!
Don’t worry about age... I’m 36 & also having number 4... I’m not considered high risk.

Have to tell someone...

Soooo..I have had 2 Dr. appointments since I posted this. I had my first sonogram today, to date the pregnancy. I must have peed on the stick the day I conceived because I am only 6 weeks and 1 day pregnant. My due date is September 14th. How do I find out if he Maternit21 is covered by insurance? My dr. wasn't sure but said since I am 35 it might.

Re: Have to tell someone...

Congrats!!

I would call the insurance co and find out. I have United Healthcare/Oxford and I was 34 when I had it done and it was covered. They didn't say dispute it or anything.

Re: Have to tell someone...

I was under the impression that it was automatically covered at 35. That's what my doctor told me... and he definitely doesn't know or care what kind of insurance I have.

And congrats!!! Chat Icon It's always hard when you find out so early, especially if you want to keep it a secret, and sometimes you can't see anything at the sonogram or hear the heartbeat... but you will! Here's to a happy and healthy 9 months! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Congratulations!!! I totally get not wanting to tell till later on. I had a loss at 17 weeks as well, among many others, and we waited till I was 20 weeks to tell my DS that I was pregnant.

For maternit21, call your insurance company and ask which NIPT (non invasive prenatal testing) tests are covered. Lots of insurances cover it now for women of all ages, and especially since you’ve had losses your doctor can code it so insurance knows there’s a reason for the test and views it as necessary.

Good luck!! Chat Icon

35 is not high risk but considered geriatric (ugh i hate that term)
The test should be covered at 35+
Congratulations!

I am so very sorry that this has happened again, it's just not right :(. Are the doctors able to give you any answers? How awful to go through another late-term loss. So many prayers for you and your family.

Have to tell someone...UPDATE

So incredibly sorry to read that update. I had a miscarriage in October at 11 weeks. Similar to you, no heartbeat at a routine check up. I still struggle with it emotionally and mentally (especially as we are approaching what would have been my due date) and while I know a miscarriage is a traumatic experience for everyone, I really struggled since I had gone through IVF to get pregnant. I felt all the work and effort, all the meds and the blood draws and doctors appointment down the drain. Trying to stay optimistic, but as I'm sure you know, it's hard. I wish you and your family peace and healing during this incredibly difficult journey.
