Does your middle school give out Chrome books?
If so, what district are you in? I’ve heard of a few districts that do this, and I’m disappointed that mine doesn’t.

The district I work in is 1:1 with chrome books from grade 3 onward. The kids don't have their own but they have access in every class throughout the buildings.

Does your middle school give out Chrome books?
They use them in their class but can't take them home. My DD has a Chromebook at home though (they are cheap). In High School they bring them home.

We're in the city. The answer is no. I do think some of the Catholic schools here give out iPads, but I think that is in HS.
My son is dysgraphic/dyslexic and had an adaptive technology evaluation a year and a half ago, everyone thought they would give him a laptop but he got an iPad with a bluetooth keyboard. It's amazing, lol.
I agree with the OP though that Chromebooks are cheap, in every way.

I teach at a Catholic school in Queens. They do ipads for Pre-K-2nd grade (but they are class ipads and all of the kids share the same 10), and in 3rd-8th, each child gets their own chrome book. It stays in school though, they can't take it home.
My kids go to a Catholic School in Nassau County. They are in 2nd, K, & Nursery- all have ipad access in their classrooms, not sure about chrome books once they get older.

Starting in second grade they are used 1:1 in the classroom for certain subjects, not all. I am in NJ. The PTO purchased them for our school. K-1 uses iPads.

Catholic school in NJ. They have them in my DS school, he has been using them since 3rd grade. He uses it at school during certain periods I think. They did make an announcement about 6-8th grade having their own - so I am guessing that is a 1:1 situation.

I am in NJ. 4th graders and up all get MacBooks and bring them home. We just pay an insurance fee

Yes our district gives kids chromebooks starting in middle school. They get to keep it for 3 years and then I’m high school, they trade it in for a new one to use for the rest of the time. We are in suffolk, LI and parents have the option of buying insurance through the district.

We are in Nassau and our kids get Chromebooks starting in 5th grade (but they don't take them home). When they get to MS they are given ipads (they do take home) and in HS they get Chromebooks (they do take home).

I’m in Rockland and the kids get them in middle school. They have them them in 3 and 4th grade as well but they don’t get to take them home until middle school.

My school is slowly implementing 1:1. Last year, every 6th grader got a cloud book. now, every 6th and 7th grader have one. Eventually, every student in grades 6-12 will have one, but it is a SLOW process.
