I almost drowned last night
I just want to share this expirerence with others because summertime is happening soon.
I went to the river in Munich and sat with a friend by the river. That’s what they do here— sit by the river and hang out. We tried to cross the river, but I slipped on something. It was only one foot deep. I fell and got swept away (a lot of people were crossing the river). The feeling of being swept away and feeling like you were drowning was horrible. Luckily, my friend helped me up and I was able to breathe again.
It happens so quickly.

Holy crap!!
Glad your friend was there to help.
I had to be rescued at Robert Moses when I was about 14. Scary! Never looked at water the same way.

Terrifying! I'm glad you're okay.
I almost drowned in the ocean as a child; I was maybe only knee-deep...tops...but I got hit by a wave and pulled under. I won't go in as an adult. My uncle saved me.

I don’t usually believe in angels, but something was watching over me. I’m just dealing with a bit of chest and nose problems today, but it’s nothing major. I’ll get it checked out by the doctor this week.
ETA: I made this post about how quickly it can happen and to watch yourself and/or family.

Give yourself some time
It took me years before I would go back in.
And I dont go far out anymore.
2 yrs ago I went in to cool off. Not even up to my knees. And was knocked down hard by a wave from behind as I was getting out. My neck hasnt been the same. A little reminder that I cant turn my back on the ocean. I love the beach. Just not the waves. Well not swimming in them. I do enjoy the look and sound of them.
