My version of the weekly menu thread

I didn't want to blow up the real, serious thread for those that have actual ambition and responsibility but whenever I read that thread, I think about what mine would look like.

So, I give you, the Nervousnell sample weekly menu:

Monday- get home from work, cranky about it being Monday, and starving. Eat a bag of Dorritos, a Poly-O Cheese Stick, a handful of M&M’s and some left over Wonton Soup from the fridge. Help DD with homework. By the time hubby is making dinner, am bloated and say I don’t want to eat. Have a glass of wine instead.

Tuesday- meet a girlfriend after work for drinks. End up eating wings, a small pizza, and sliders at the bar. Come home cranky and bloated and pass out on the couch while watching TV after putting DD to bed

Wednesday- Hump day- wine after work. A cheese and pepperoni plate to go with the wine. Tell Hubby I want to order tacos for dinner. Because, Taco Wednesday. Order from the local taco place

Thursday- Chicken meatballs and broccoli and whole wheat pasta. Devour the pasta, pick on the meatballs and broccoli. Bittch that I need chocolate. Make a
Chocolate Chip Mug Cookie for dessert topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Friday- Pizza night. Or Chinese. Or any other kind of take out. Duh.

Saturday- out to dinner. I can’t eat dinner at home on a Saturday night. I have to have some semblance of a life! Come home and make a
Chocolate Chip Mug Cookie and eat it while watching netflix.

Sunday- Pasta with the family. Eat more than I should and complain how bloated and gassy and disgusted I feel with myself before going to bed cranky that tomorrow is Monday.

Re: My version of the weekly menu thread

Looks like my mealplan for the end of last week.

Thursday: I threw some ravioli on before I realized that we only had 1 spoonful of jarred sauce left in the fridge. So DH had ravioli and sauce. I had dry raviolis.

Friday: Went to a wedding at the Milleridge Cottage. Yay for not having to cook!

Saturday: Still hungover from the wedding. Fries and chicken fingers it is....

Sunday: Umm...is frozen pizza okay? I forgot to defrost chicken.

Monday: ....still forgot to defrost the chicken. Made heroes out of the turkey meatballs that we give our DD and some hot dog buns Chat Icon Chat Icon

Tuesday: ....Guess who forgot to defrost the chicken...AGAIN...

Re: My version of the weekly menu thread

Love it!! This has been our week so far:

Sunday - I actually cooked! Make Baked Ziti for the family and shredded chicken taco meat.

Monday - got stuck at work - leftover baked ziti for them, leftover chicken for me.

Tuesday - got stuck at work - my inlaws had the kids - tacos for them and DH by their house, a protein shake for me when I finally got home.

Wednesday - planning on getting stuck at work - my parents are feeding the kids - beef stew for them, probably a protein shake (or wine) for me.

so there's my week so far...off to a good start.....Chat Icon

Re: My version of the weekly menu thread

This is great!!

Monday - chicken chili. Nice and easy and 1 POT. Love it! Had a yummy pumpkin beer while it was on the pot

Tues - chicken parm and spaghetti and as always ate too much spaghetti. Ended with Halloween themed Fake Oreos. LOL

Wednesday night - leftovers. That's what I love about making a HUGE pot of chili

Thurs night - girl's night so DH is in charge which means he'll probably take them to a bar/restaurant

Friday - usually ALWAYS takeout or go out local

Sat - go out for dinner.

Sun - probably bring in or go out

I don't like to cook on the weekends unless we're grilling and having friends over.

Top that off with wine or beer and it's a good week

Mine is very similar lol.

We make 1-2 meals a week and otherwise it's reheat, take out, eat out, etc.

And too many carbs, and too much wine and beer.

ETA: And our kids eat "kid food" most nights... Nuggets, mac and cheese, pasta, meatballs, hot dogs, etc.

830 to 530. I get home around 6 or 615. Unless I'm working in the city in which case all bets are off and I;m usually out to dinner with clients and not home until 10 pm or later.

I'm just not a big dinner eater to begin with. I could take or leave it and would rather just pick most days

I hear you. By the time you get home, do the things you have to do, who wants to spend time in the kitchen planning, prepping, & cooking? I try to grocery shop all in one place, then plan ahead but only quick meals. Maybe try Rachael Ray 30 min meals. I picked out a few that I mastered already so I always keep those items on hand.
