I can only read a couple of comments before I get disgusted or appalled at the extreme "Us" vs "Them" and pure hatred that people seem to have over something as arbitrary as which political party you voted for. Most people don't even believe everything that their "side" believes in, but they have to choose a side, and the other "side" is their mortal enemy.
Of course, it doesn't help when #45 is leading that movement, but even after he leaves office, this hatred is going to last for decades...

Call you ignorant, stupid etc. You xant agree wuth aomething that the current administration is doung without being a racist or seen as the enemy. What you posted, is what you and many others are doing here everyday.

Goldenrod is constantly stating that it's not Republican v. Democrat. He is disturbed by what he sees in our administration yet he goes out of his way to make it bipartisan.
I'm admittedly not super active on this board, but I haven't seen anyone call anyone racist or ignorant in a long time.
We get it - you like him, or at the very least, you are taking the "wait and see" approach. Many of us are not willing to wait and see if, for example, 22 million innocent people lose healthcare. People are fighting back and part of that is venting. If you don't like it, ignore it, or start your own pro Trump posts.

all of this I agree with but I will also say I really can't believe anyone still supports this moron but I try to keep my opinion of how I feel about people supporting him to myself ... I try at least ... I try not to read comments on stories posted to FB so I don't get so frustrated with what I am reading!!

I support the process. An election happened and Trump won. This board is completely one sided and it gets nasty which supports what he said in his original post. People here want it to be one way or another. I can't think the president did something good without being considered 100% pro trump. If I say I don't like his tweeting then I get questioned how I can still support him. I think we need tax reform. I think ACA needs fixing. I am willing to see what those things look like. I also believe in gay rights and am pro choice. I don't vote on party lines and I don't vote on one issue. I tried to engage in a conversation about something I support that Trump is doing. The repeal of Dodd-Frank. I was met with minimal responses. People don't want to understand the ins and outs of what they think they are fighting for. People are yelling about the proposed health care reform. I bet 99.9% of them haven't read the entire thing. They are taking sound bites and running with it. They forget how when the Dems passed it the first time that Pelosi admitted she hadn't read it and that we need to pass something before we can know whats in it. Obama had knowledge of all this Russia nonsense. He did nothing and nobody cares. I want a proper investigation to take place and have anyone involved punished as the laws require. I didn't love everything Obama did, but I also didn't bash him in a public forum. I didn't call him names and I never bashed someone that supported him or thought they were ignorant. I get it people have strong opinions. There is a right way and wrong way to deal with it.

This board wouldn't seem so completely one-sided if those in support of #45 would eloquently and intelligently provide real reasoning for supporting him, his executive orders, actions and intentions.
Jenhos, in your previous post, you have done just this. Comprehensive healthcare reform is a priority in this country. However, media soundbites do indeed make it impossible for everyone/anyone to understand the proposed provisions of "repeal and replace". Simply put, there isn't a clear-cut plan in place, and many are weary of the fact that a simultaneous replacement wasn't implemented as promised. Reading a proposal that doesn't exist?
Obama had knowledge of the Russia nonsense, and he did not do enough to combat the issue or nip it in the bud before it got serious. I do have to argue that, at the time, it wasn't a priority (Syria), but we know that foreign policy was never his strong point.
I don't think that anyone can call someone ignorant if they provide evidence to back up their claims. We see a lot of "but look at the alternative", "Better than Hillary", "It would have been 4 more years of Obama" etc. Those aren't valid, educated, intelligent reasons for supporting Trump

Plenty of things get thrown out on both sides with little or no evidence (I don't consider the Huffington post credible) To say the pro-Obama responses are all educated and intelligent is a stretch. Hard to take someone seriously when they can't even refer to the man by name and stop calling him "cheeto".
I don't 100% support Trump. Parts of what he is doing I do support because I think it is important. That isn't good enough for some. They want everyone to say they hate the man. My 401k is growing rapidly. The market has seen the best run post a presidential election ever. To me that is a great thing. The fact that he called out the members of NATO that don't pay their share was awesome. I hope things change and countries that can, start paying because we can't afford to fit the bill. Getting out of the France pact was brilliant. This was costing the US a lot of money. When I argued this, nobody could name programs that they were worried we would lose because we got out. People just stop responding when they can't refute what you said so having a conversation rarely occurs. No matter what good he does the other side will determine it is a failure or that he only did it because it was self serving to him. If people are truly worried about the country being divided they should look in the mirror first and ask if they are part of the problem. Are they spewing nasty comments and negativity? If what trump is doing really bothers them, then go out and do something about it.

Sort of like calling someone "Crooked Hillary", "Lyin' Ted", etc. I'm not saying it's OK to do it if someone else does it, but the president DOES set the tone of the country, and when it comes from the top, it lays a cloud over everything. But you're 100% correct. It's hard to take someone seriously when they can't refer to a person without calling them names...
It's hard to constantly try to take the high road when the POTUS is CONSTANTLY taking the lowest road possible.....
(I am NOT saying I always take the high road... not by a long shot... it's just a general statement...)

I have never seen a post where someone praised Trump for saying those things. To say you do it because the president sets the tone is ridiculous. We are all adults. I decide what comes out of my mouth. If I had run around saying things on this board about Obama based on how he looks I would have been called a multitude of things. In reading just the page displayed I would say your comments are 95% negative.

I get that there is negativity in both sides. However, IMO NOT praising and NOT speaking up about horrible things our President does and says means you support it. An analogy IMO is not speaking up to someone who says rascist things when i am having a convo with them. By not calling them out, i in turn appear to be agreeing with them.
Also we arent talking about Obama or Hillary anymore. We are talking about trump and specific people in his clan that are supposed to be leaders and role models - people we want to look up to in the majority of things they do ans say.

I can only read a couple of comments before I get disgusted or appalled at the extreme "Us" vs "Them" and pure hatred that people seem to have over something as arbitrary as which political party you voted for. I didn't love everything Obama did, but I also didn't bash him in a public forum. I didn't call him names and I never bashed someone that supported him or thought they were ignorant. I get it people have strong opinions. There is a right way and wrong way to deal with it.
1. I think it's silly to take such umbrage at Trump being called names. His antics are unprecedented and everyone knows it. Even GWB, whom I loathed as a president, was not lampooned like this by me or anyone I know. After all the things he's said and done - he's a sexual predator, for crying out loud - he deserves any invective people want to throw at him.
2. Describing a "right and wrong way" to deal with opposition to a president is exactly what they say in dictatorships. It's the kind of language that, when used by the government, oppresses the opposition. It's not something I will remotely entertain. We've got free speech, and other than advocating for violence against Trump - something that I will never condone and I don't recall seeing on here - people should be able to vent as they please. Which brings me to my next point -
3. I cannot take people seriously when they object to Trump being called "Cheetoh" but said nothing about Obama being hanged and burned in effigy. There's a search feature on here. It's easy enough to check.
4. I don't recall the Dodd Frank thread specifically but I do agree that everyone should understand what they are talking about. That's more than fair. It's easy enough to check facts an, at minimum, if people don't want to read the law or aren't sure what it means, they can read the analyses of different economists. However, as far as other posters and discussing facts, I have long ago LOST COUNT of the times posters -on the right- revealed in their discussions that they truly had no idea what they were talking about. I gently provided facts and logic and then people either doubled down or, more often, just stopped replying. I used to think, "ok, death by facts." The most recent example is a thread where the poster clearly had no idea how Planned Parenthood funding works. Frankly, I make a genuine effort to not be unkind and condescending.
5. Last but far from least, I loathe the "I didn't like what Obama did but I didn't say things like this" etc. etc. Sorry but it's not even close. Some of Trump's policies and the Republican Congress's laws are literally going to cost people their lives and livelihoods. Yes, people are going to DIE because of the new hc bill if it passes. That SHOULD inspire more anger than the higher taxes on the rich of the Obama era. Show me how Obama threatened your life, livelihood and rights and I'll concede the point. But I highly doubt it. There's different things at stake here and honestly drawing the comparison makes you sound very out of touch with some of the things the poor and vulnerable deal with in our society. I'm not saying you are, but that's the appearance that statement gives.

Yet you are on here multiple times a day fanning the flames. People won't offer an opinion or engage in a conversation on this board because those that hate the President will tear you to shreds.

I could respond to all of your points, but if you can sincerely compare the losses of the upper middle class to the losses many will feel under Trump, then we've reached our fundamental differences and I'm not sure there's anything else to say.

1. My point was you (collective you) want to say he says nasty things etc. yet you are doing the same.
2. There are right and wrong ways to deal with things. I may not like my co-worker but I am not going to just go off on them to their face.
3. I have never read anything on here where those things were said about Obama (I also don't spend time reading these boards every day) I read it in the news and was equally disgusted. If some one on here said things like that they should have been banned. I am talking about grown women and men on here saying these things.
4. Things are easily found with a search
5. That is your opinion. There were things I felt good about with Obama and things I strongly opposed. Either was I was never wishing death on the man or calling him hateful things. My life today is no different then it was in January. I am watching closely the issues that I feel are important. If I don't like what I see I take action where I can. Ranting on LIF or calling him cheeto isn't going to get the President to stop tweeting or using silly words like bigly.
I could respond to all of your points, but if you can sincerely compare the losses of the upper middle class to the losses many will feel under Trump, then we've reached our fundamental differences and I'm not sure there's anything else to say.

I apologize if I didn't answer a question on your other post. I don't read this board daily and don't always go back to things. It wasn't intentional.
Call them out where? On LIF? I think Trump should stop tweeting. Do you feel better? What has that solved? Calling my Senators and telling them I don't want Trump to tweet isn't going to do anything. Like it or not the man has a right to Tweet what he wants. FYI I am not on Twitter and don't really understand why anyone Tweets.
I don't feel the need or have the time to come on here and rant about every little thing I do or don't like. I am not in denial about anything. As with every president that has been elected (regardless if I voted for them or not) I have continued to live my life. I make sure my kids are cared for, I come to work and bust my ass, I enjoy my family and friends. Today is no different than 6 months ago or a year ago. I have called my Senators on a few things over the last few years. I don't instantly jump to the doom and gloom scenario. OMG he wants to repeal ACA. People don't even know whats in the bill and they are complaining. OMG he is going to repeal Dodd-Frank. Again people don't know what it is or what it will mean if it is gone. LIF is not going to solve the worlds problems. Sometimes I read things and have to laugh on here. During the womans marches people were asking if there were LI ones because getting to the city was too hard. Really? We are a supportive group by convenience. We have choices on how we behave toward each other.

Re: It's going to be a long time until we're the "United" States of America again...
I rarely come on, but once in awhile enjoy reading the rants. I voted for Trump, call me a deplorable, racist, whatever. Do I LOVE Trump and support everything he says and does? Nope. I don't plan on having him over for dinner though, I just want things changed in this country. I am not in a position to pay for people who do not want to work. And I could not bring myself to vote for Hillary. They all lie, but she brings it to a whole new level. And I can't get past the Bengazi incident. I think Obamacare is a mess and maybe I have a different perspective because I have a few doctor and pharmacist friends who see it all. My parents got screwed on it. But...in all fairness, there are some people that benefited from it. You could debate it all day long - no healthcare plan is going to benefit everyone. And the government being involved is the issue IMO. Anyway, I keep facebook discussions or any discussions to a minimum because quite frankly there are a lot of angry people out there. I could not stand Obama - did I ever express that? Yes, to close friends and family, not online. We all are so bold in front of our keyboards and just say anything. I scan these boards and all I see are the same few people ranting - mostly anti-Trump folks. That's expected, NY is primarily liberal. But I think most avoid these boards because they know they will get slammed if they hint they support him. An election result is obviously going to make many happy and many angry. It's part of life. I need to support my family and continue living. Life is way too short to waste ranting about something out of most of our control at this point. And we will never be the United States of America if the current divide stays in place. With that said, my rant is over....LOL. take care everyone!!

Thank you for posting. You gave context for why you voted for him, and I respect that. I believe many voted for him for change, heck, that was Obama's campaign slogan, so voting for change is a valid reason.
I don't agree with some of your reasons personally, but we are different people and have different goals and interests.
There is frustration on both sides and hypocrisy on both side. Our culture (not just politics) has become very much "my way or the highway" which has led to the continental divide.
When it comes to healthcare, I'd like to see both sides come together and find the some common ground. As of yesterday, I had some hope when I read that some senators were backing away from tax relief for a very small portion of society because those dollars will stay in the uber rich's pockets and never go back into the general population. However, I woke up this morning to find out DT wants to repeal without a replacement which is the worst scenario since all of society benefits from a healthy population and repeal without replacement will negatively affect everyone.

And thank you for your reply - I agree 100% with your point on the frustration on both sides. It truly makes me sad how many friendships and family ties have been broken apart over it. It has been "my way or the highway" and it's depressing to listen to and read. I too hope the healthcare thing comes together.

But why dont you come out and call Trump and clan out on their behavior? I didnt get a respond from you to my other post so I still dont get where you are coming from. And i do respect your posts and what you have to say.

Going forward, can we stop quoting the entire thread? It's getting hard (visually) to read.

I respectfully disagree with those who criticize my right to call him "Cheeto Benito", "$45", "President Twitter" and "The Dumpster" Roll your eyes all you want, but I can't refer to him as anything more honorable and keep a straight face
