i have to agree with your friend... most of us say lets get together, blah blah blah, and we usually don't. but good luck if you do... and many restaurants will do separate checks, and if they don't, it doesn't take an accountant to figure out how much each family owes.

What about a picnic in a park where each family brings their own food? That might be easier with so many families involved and for anyone with kids, it would be more enjoyable probably since their kids could all run around and play together instead of the parents trying to keep them behaved and sitting still in a restaurant.
