Dr. Zapantis - Out of Pocket IVF cost?
Does anyone know the approximate cost for IVF without insurance? I like my current clinic, LI IVF, but their prices are insane for OOP. The last IUI I did was 3K...the first two were 2K. Extreme rip off. The billing rep won't quote me for IVF over the phone - She says I have to schedule a consult, which is $550 bc my insurance won't cover anything. I love Dr. Brenner but at this point I feel like the clinic just wants money.
Dr. Zapantis' seems to have wonderful reviews and his website claims their clinic has one of the lowest costs for IVF in the region.
Just curious and exploring my potions.

I don't remember what he quoted in. I would have to look at the paper wok. See if they can code the visit for something other than IF related, this way your consult will be covered.

They would not change the code for my initial consult with him. It's ridiculous. $550 for 20 minutes of talking.

I didn't go in for a consult with LI IVF when I decided to do IVF after my four failed IUIs. Everything I did was on the phone.

if you had fibroids etc, use that reason for the apt and tell them that

Thanks, I get it, but I have unexplained infertility. I asked billing and Brenner to change the code to indicate I had a problem rather then just use the general consult code since my insurance won't cover it. He said that would be dishonest. I told him my OBGYN used the irregular period code bc she new my insurance would not cover an infertility consult. He said he couldn't do that.
I liked Brenner otherwise but now that he's telling me I have to come in for $550 Ivf consult after I paid 8k out of pocket for 3 unsuccessful IUIs? Its this kind of crap that makes everything so much more stressful and makes me want t9 f8nf a new clinic.

I misread, I thought the $550 for Dr Zapantis consult which is why I suggested using a different reason for the visit. I didn't realize its for Dr. B who you've been seeing all along.

With a GREAT deal of respect you are asking this doctor to compromise his ethics to "illegally" bill insurance. he could get in a LOT of trouble, including loosing his license to put a "fake" code on the paperwork.
I am so sorry for what you are going through however its also not fair to ask the office to break the law either. I say this VERY respectfully to you and in NO WAY are flaming you.
