Am I being overcautious? (avoiding kids right now)
I work in a middle school and they have a party today for the staff's children. The stomach virus has been ripping through my school. BAD. I had 30 kids out on Thursday out of 125.
I'm contemplating skipping the party. It's held in the cafeteria where every kid goes at some point, and there will be lots of children there all playing this afternoon.
I am usually not paranoid. My DD plays with her cousins, eats things off the floor... a random boogery kid kissed her on the lips recently and I just laughed it off.
But this virus is making me crazy!
Would you bring her or stay home. She's 15 months and will be all over the place.

I'm pretty relaxed about stuff too but 5 days before Christmas with a baby, it's not worth it. I'd skip.

Nope, you're not being paranoid. I would skip it.
If I could I would make today be DS's last day for the rest of the year. He had a religion test this morning. The rest of the week is just light work and a party. Its not worth sending him and risking him bringing home this nasty bug that is going around.
Unfortunately, I can't have him home with my mom the rest of the week, since she needs to prepare for Christmas Day dinner.

I'm usually laid back to too but with Xmas just days away, I'd put my kids in a bubble if I could!! I'd skip the party, for sure!!!

i would skip it! especially since she too young to really know what she'll be missing- its not like she'll be disappointed. keep her away from the germs so close to christmas!!

my kids had this stomach virus, then i got it and so did my husband.. IT WAS BRUTAL! i'd skip it

Definitely skip it. I left the house 1 day out of 14 to go to a kiddie gym and I got the damn virus. SKIP IT!!!!!!

So ironically enough, she napped from 3:30-5 yesterday... the party was 4-5. She NEVER naps then! I think she did it to make me feel better about my decision.

I was just going to post a similar WWYD question. I wasn't sure but decided to keep my DS home from school for the next two days bc that stomach virus is going around his class and grade. I have a preemie baby two months old and I'm petrified of him bringing it home. And Xmas too. Awful.

I would skip for sure! I'm keeping my girls home from school tomorrow because the stomach bug is spreading like wild fire. I feel like they will definitely get it but I'm praying for a Christmas miracle. If they can at least hold out until Sunday afternoon is all I'm asking for.

This is DD's second time with it in 6 weeks. It's terrible. She's in kindergarten and I thought she was in the clear from getting it bc she already had it. The nurse called yesterday and said she threw up in school. She was totally fine when I sent her. I'm so upset she's going to have to miss Christmas at relatives houses this weekend
