Care credit
Can someone explain how this is used for dental? My daughter has to have sleep sedation and the anesthesiologist is $1500. The dentist is saying I have six months to pay that off but if they are putting it on care credit then isn't it just my credit card? Wouldn't he get Paid right away? Is this a bill that comes to my house like my own credit card? Thanks!!!

Care credit
Care credit is a credit card. It's used for medical, dental and vetinarian expenses. Over a certain dollar amount it's interest free for 6 months, 1 year or higher. My laser eye surgery was interest free for 2 years. Great card as long as you pay on time if not interest is really high. Also to say interest is retroactive so if you pay $1495 and the promo ends you will get hit with all the back interest.

So why are they saying I have six months to pay the anesthesiologist ? It's six months for me to pay my credit card the doctor is already paid , no ?

Yes the doctors are all being paid right away, but you are paying like a credit card. I used it for a crown I needed.
As a side note, what type of procedure is she having? My son was told he would need to be put under for 2 fillings and a tooth pulled several years ago. To the tune of $1,500. We went for a second opinion at Stony Brook Dental and he didn't need a tooth pulled, and they did the fillings without putting him out and insurance paid.

Oh that stinks!!
We had taken him to Suffolk Pediatric Dentistry initially. My DD goes there without issue, but hasn't ever had to have dental work other than a cleaning, but they just didn't work out for him!

we are at broadway smiles and she isn't a bad patient , they just can't get xrays bc she's not holding open and they know if she's not doing that, then they can't do work.

My eye surgery was over 13 years ago so that was the promotion at the time.

Care Credit IS a credit card, but can only be used for medical procedures. They are probably saying you have 6 months to pay it off bc after that you will incur the interest. You can actually decide how long you take to pay it off. If you want to take 2 years, with smaller payments, then do that...but you'll be paying interest.
Yes, the MD gets paid right away, just as merchants do when they take your Visa card. So instead of you paying off the dentist, they are now using this type of plan to offer to patients who can't (or don't want to) lay out all that money at once. And then they're not in the position of hearing patients asking for payment plans, etc.

I've used this card many times. The amount of months interest free depends on the practice. Most only allow 6 months. It is not the norm to have 2 yrs interest free. The Dr's office is paying for the interest during the time it is free to you.
Yes, the office will get pd like a reg CC.
I've used this card for vet bills, surgeons etc.

It's usually six months interest free. After six months, you start paying interest if its not paid off, but have two years to finish paying the balance.

Care credit
It is something ridiculous like 26% if not paid within the promotional period. If the dentist does a payment plan, Id do that. Otherwise, get a regular lower interest visa/mastercard and pay with that.

It's gauranteeing that he/she will get payed. If you have a payment plan you can stop paying. Each office chooses which plans they want to offer their patients. Not all offices offer the same payment terms. If you can't pay it off within the interest free period your better off using your regular cc. Even if you only have 100 left the interest charged (26ish%) if you go beyond the term is on the original balance. Feel free to fm me, I use it in my chiropractic office...hth
