The year I used it, there were two vendors who royally screwed brides (a florist who never showed up on the wedding day and a photographer who was overheard talking crap about another bride at a wedding showcase). LIW kept deleting all posts about it and I think a lot of woman got annoyed that they felt like they were only reading the good things rather than entire reviews.
The year I got married, my photographer who was quite popular on the site, did something similar. We were very unhappy with him as were several other brides. It took us YEARS to get our album. And that was only after threatening to take him to court and me basically creating the whole album myself and just telling him to F-in have it printed already. Those who posted bad reviews had their reviews and posts completely deleted. He was a gleaming vendor on LIW and would have them take down anything negative. Meanwhile, he ended up on CBS news as a scam artist years later after duping many other brides into the same sh!t. I got lucky...I got my pictures (although not nearly to the quality that we paid for). But so many others didn't. We wouldn't have even been in that mess if LIW hadn't removed previous negative reviews of his business. We would have never booked him to begin with.
ETA: I will say though, I do remember hearing that the reason LIW removed the negative posts was because this particular photographer threatened to sue them if they did not. And aside from that incident, LIW was an amazing resource before my wedding and long after. It's sad that vendors have so much "pull" over there.

So sad. My wedding planning experience would have been so different (and boring!) without LIW!
