Certified Teachers Assistant

Is anyone certified? Was it easier to get a job? I'm thinking about taking the em test so I can look for a job. My youngest starts school in September. Is there a benefit to taking the exam?

Re: Certified Teachers Assistant

I don't know anything about that exam but with the job market being what it is for teachers many districts are able to hire actual certified teachers for TA positions.

Years ago when I was looking for a teaching job I was a TA for a few months before I got my leave replacement. It's no better these days; I know of a few people in that same position either now or within the past year or so.

So I can't imagine that a school would be willing to hire someone without either certification.

Pretty sure you need to be certified. Even at the private school I used to work at all the TA's were certified at least level 1.

This. A bunch of the TAs in my district hold a Master's degree and are TAing in hopes of getting a full time teaching position. Often times, the TA positions become highly competitive because there are several certified teachers interviewing for the job.
