I work from home. I am an exec. assistant. I get most of my work done while the kids are at school but some nights I do have to play catch up. I love it. I love dropping my kids off at school, picking them up from school, having playdates for their kids at our house, being able to take care of them if they are sick, etc etc. Was it difficult when they were young? extremely but I wouldn't change it for the world.

We are all remote, however those with children need to provide proof of Child Care because it is impossible to do both. Of course the once in a while emergency comes up and that is ok but on the day to day they either need a sitter or day care.

THANK YOU - this is still one of my hugest pet peeves in the office.
They had a WAH programo going but it was all of nothing, and I didn't want to isolated at home alone all day. I didn't think WAH meant the company was going to pay me to be a SAHM MANY did - and got away w/ it at first too. I can't tell you how many meetings you'd hear babys crying, laughing, kids running around the house etc. - No. If I have to shell out $2500 a month in daycare expenses........why are YOU getting paid to stay home and take care of your kids ????
I'm not talking that once in a while emergency situation, I'm talking FT, 5 days a week. It was always the people who didn't contribute much in the office anyway, they're never getting promoted or anything - but it still KILLED me that they 'got away with it'

I don't know how people do it. I WFH but 2 of my kids are in school and by 3rd goes to day care so it is just me in my office on calls all day. I can't stand even hearing dogs in the background of conference calls let alone my kids (barring emergencies, etc). There is no way I could actually WFM and while my kids are home.

I WAH, but it's part time so I do make my own hours and work when my boys are at school. I schedule the conf calls when they are out and if school is off I make plans for them so they are either busy at a playdate, someone is watching them, I have them watching TV for those 15 - 30 mins or I let my manager know I won't be on.

It isn't easy with them being home, but for the most part I get it done when they are out. They are 6 and 4. My older DS goes to 1st grade full day and younger DS is in prek 3 full days a week.

For the most part I work on spreadsheets, going over bills for events and setting up for future events. I am lucky to work from home, but there is no way I could do it full time at home. When I did have a full time job I had to be at the office or I'd never get things done

I WFH a majority of the week as well and work for a big insurance company in IT. I think alot of these big companies, esp. the ones who tend to outsource their work offshore, are trying to save $$ by reducing rent overhead. The reduction in office space forces employees to share work space which allows them option to WFH a few times a week.

I know a few close friends who work in IT and finance who also WFH most of week if not 5 days a week.
