I'll tell you where they go and you won't like it. In the trash. My dad is a school custodian and he always gets so upset at the end of the year because they toss everything. They usually ask him to come get their huge bags of garbage. Rolls of paper towels, baby wipes, unused crayons, pencils, scissors all goes in the trash. What a waste!!

What? I can't believe that. Where is this school? I save EVERYTHING I possibly can. I can't imagine that teachers throw good stuff out.

I don't want to say the name of the school. I should clarify and say not every teacher in the school does this but some do.

My students take home everything at the end of the school year. I don't keep their stuff.

Kids either bring them home, lose them, other kids take them by accident, throw them out or use them up. There isn't one answer. I've never heard of teachers in my building throwing away school supplies. I've already spent a ton of my own money on school supplies. I certainly wouldn't throw away good supplies!

No way !

No teacher is throwing those out! Any teacher will tell you they are happy to have those extras left over for the following year rather than throwing them out! That is the Most ridiculous thing ive heard. If it was stuff in a kids locker then i can understand but older kids do not have wioes and paper towels in their locker.

i always have a few paper towel rolls/ wipes left over everyyear and I just hold on to them. As far as scissors go, kids Are told to bring them home, maby thinngs get left in their desks in june and honestly many are lost /broken throughout the year and I lend them my own so any that are left and not taken i save for the following year.

I'm a teacher. They keep their scissors and rulers in their desks. By the end of the year half of them lost their scissors. In June I tell them to take home everything from their desks that belongs to them.

where do the school supplies go in June?

I teach high school so my students don't buy a ton of supplies, but they do but binders which many choose to keep in my classroom. I tell them at the end of the year to take them, but most don't. I keep the ones that are in good shape and give them to students who don't bring in supplies the next year. I can't imagine teachers throwing out good supplies. I buy my own scissors, rulers, etcetera for my students and many go missing or get broken during the school year.

My kids bring stuff home every june but they always like to get new stuff in september so we keep the old school supplies for arts and crafts at home. To be honest by the end of the school year the scissors and glue sticks are nearly gone in the classrooms - they do get broken.

I can't speak for every teacher, but for me, I return everything at the end of the year. You would not believe how many kids shove the things in their desks or lockers even after I take them out and tell them to put them in their backpacks. You wouldn't believe the stuff I find the last day of school (and they are supposed to have brought everything home days prior).

I'm a teacher: scissors, markers, rulers, glue, tape, pencils, pens, colored pencils etc are all kept at their desks... Half lose them by mid year and at the end of the year they all are told to bring all of that home... As a TEACHER and a PARENT, I always tell the class to reuse those supplies even folders etc

Every year in June my DD has come home with all of her leftover supplies...............markers, colored pencils, scissors, art smock, erasers, etc. Aside from paper products, the teacher hasn't kept anything, it's all come home with her when school ended.

ETA - When I was a teacher, I sent the kids home in June with any supplies they had left in their desk.

I always have my students take home any supplies that they have left. Honestly, often they lose them or break them and by the end of the year they are using the extra ones I bought/have for the class to borrow. (I'm talking 1st/2nd grade)

This exactly. I teach fourth grade and I often times have to replenish these supplies mid year. I also can't imagine that many teachers toss supplies that are in good condition at the end of the year. I save EVERYTHING!!

I don't think it goes in the trash. If the kids don't lose it, and don't bring it home, then the teacher is probably hoarding it. Teachers closets are stocked with stuff! I know because I've helped organize many teachers closets LOL!!!
