I'm not sure if this is common or possible in children but my mother's migraines were caused by a hole in heart heart that never closed after birth. Hers is caused a patent foramen ovale. From what I've read it can be fairly common. Maybe something to mention to the doctors

Both of my boys suffer from migraines (thanks to my genetics). They both had MRI's done. My older son suffers worse...gets them somewhat frequently with aura. The neurologist wanted to put him on meds. Instead, Motrin has been working when he starts to feel pain or loses his vision.

We believe my DD is getting them. Started at age 5. MRI has not been done and no treatment since it has not been consistent. But first year of K she got a lot of headaches and stomachaches. If it continues we will get an MRI.

I also wanted to mention magnesium. A lot of us lack it, even kids. Headaches are a common sign from it. And there is no test for it. So maybe a small dosage of OTC magnesium.
I agree with trying the magnesium. However magnesium isn't easiky absorbed internally. Get magnesium oil. Spray it on the legs. It tingles a bit if you're deficiant. You can mix w a little bit of a carrier oil if the tingle is too much for a child. Or wipe off after 20m. You can also buy magnesium flakes and make your own oil.
I would definitely consult a chiropractor. In my experience headaches/migraines do not just happen for a reason. There is always some sort of a trigger. Whether an allergin, school bus fumes, mold, my aunt gets them from red wine. But it's not actually the wine. It's the sulfates in the wine. Sulfate free wine doesn't bother her. Good look and I hope you find something that helps!

Migraines in children?
I have seen so many more kids complaining of headaches in my chiropractic practice. Most of the time we determine the child is spending way too much time on a tablet or gaming device, looking down for extended periods of time.

Magnesium has improved my migraines dramatically!

You are a great candidate for Botox, have you tried it? It does take a 3 sessions (usually) to really see a difference, if it's going to work for you. But anyone who has 15 or more migraine/headache DAYS (not 15 or more headaches, but 15 or more headache days), is a prime candidate.
Tried that 10 years ago. Didn't help that much.

First thing to do is to take the kid to the eye doctor and check him/her vision!
Strained eyes due to bad eyesight is a very common cause of headaches in children and something that a simple pair of glasses can fix!

What age did it start for your DC?
My older son started around 9 or 10 years old. My younger guy had his first one at 6 years old.

My migraines used to be triggered by something--drinking wine, not eating on time, not getting enough sleep or not drinking enough water. Since I started taking natural calm magnesium (coupled with a healthy diet and exercise), I rarely get them anymore!

I could never pinpoint a trigger food or foods, but I do find that when I don't eat on time, and I let my blood sugar get too low, that seems to be a trigger.
I really need to eat on a somewhat consistent schedule and never get too hungry.
Spikes and dips in blood sugar seem to be a trigger for me

Have you looked into food sensitivities? I rarely get migraines once I started changing what I ate
