CAC / Mini Splits or in wall AC's

So we currently have two in the wall AC's and were redoing the siding on the house so my thought was get rid of the wall units and get with the splits units or CAC.

DH is second guessing it, is there a good enough reason to remove the wall units and get either CAC or the split units installed??

Would you just keep ur wall units and end it??

Help up decide what's best.....

I can budget for it although spending the extra $$ is never good - I have it if we need it......

IMHO you can never go wrong with CAC. There's nothing like it and when we were looking for a house it was one of our must haves. If a house didn't have it we budgeted for installing it. I grew up without any AC at all and now can't imagine not having CAC.
If you're redoing your siding it's the perfect time. The home we bought has CAC, but 2 wall units. I can't wait to get rid of them!

That's exactly why we're looking into it now before the siding project starts but is it worth the extra money? Our wall units are new so DH is struggling with spending the money. I'm like now the tine to do it.....

We had the option of repairing existing duct work for CAC or adding mini splits when we bought our house this summer. We went with the minis and they are amazing. Our electric bill running them this summer for a whole house was less than running the wall units in our apartment. We are very happy!

The split units are so much quieter, more efficient and much more like cac than wall units. They are a fraction of the cost of cac

Re: CAC / Mini Splits or in wall AC's

Going to disagree with everyone here. IMO mini splits are just glorified wall ACs, it's not like air is going to circulate through the house like real CAC does with vents in every room. They cost a lot more than wall ACs and the energy savings don't make it worth it. I would not change wall ACs to mini splits. A few mini splits could equal the cost of a real CAC system.

Just have the siding company give you plenty of extra siding when they do the work and you can always have the holes closed at a later date if you ever want to upgrade the AC.

I closed a wall AC hole in my last house when I installed CAC, even did it myself with the help of a handyman. No problem.

CAC all the way. I was also not a fan of the way ductless looks, so for me it was a no brainer to get CAC. So happy we did and got rid of the 2 wall AC's we had! Can't wait to use the CAC for the first time this summer!
