Weather for Tonight's Commute?
Is it suppose to get really bad during tonights' commute? A few people at work are asking if I'm heading out early (I take LIRR)…but I didn't realize we were getting any kind of bad weather?

I would like to know this too. If so, I am going to leave early from the city. It was gross this morning and freezing rain when I got out of Penn.

As above. If you aren't driving, and won't need to drive after the train, I don't think you'll need to leave early. But those who need to drive, might want to consider it.

Adding - one of my employees just walked in and said she was skidding all over the place and that there was a massive pile up on the westbound side of the Northern. She came from Massapequa to Smithtown.

I just went locally since we were out of salt for the driveway, etc. and it was a MESS and this is with plows going around...it's not worth waiting for it to be dark and slippery...

Its not good out there. I had to take my dd to the dr in Lake Grove and the roads are awful. Its sleeting and the temperatures are dropping fast. Be careful!!

It is getting bad in Bayport. Standing water is freezing over and earlier freezing rain has wipers stuck to car windows. Co workers coming back from lunch said roads are really bad. Snow is supposed to return around 3:00. I heard than Tanger Mall in Riverhead closed.

My DH's company had them come in late at 9:30 and now they are closing the building at 3pm and sending everyone home. I'm so glad, I was worried about him driving later tonight.

Snowing hard in Manhattan. Some people who commute from upstate and parts of Jersey via bus have left or are leaving ASAP because their buses are switching to weekend schedules.

Careful out there, roads are bad. Thankfully my boss let me leave around 215. I was slipping a few times even with four wheel drive, and doing 20 mph at most

After I wrote this my class got canceled. Cars are getting stuck on my block.

I just got home, took earlier train to Nassau - the conditions are pretty bad. Everything is ice with snow on top so it looks deceiving. Be careful!!!

Terrible weather outside! Took me 2 hours to drive from Route 110 in Melville to Merrick Road in Baldwin! Drive carefully!

I left work (exit 55) around 5 pm and was home (exit 61) in just under an hour.
There wasn't many cars on the LIE service road- a lot of people left early.
It wasn't great conditions, but I took it nice and slow, and everyone else did too, and I didn't have any issues.
I have driven in a lot worse- I was actually surprised.
