not to sound dumb and feel free to call me dumb Chat Icon but what's the big deal about this? I don't mean this to be sarcastic I really don't I just don't know what the downside to it is.

It's dangerous for our health and our kids' health! There are so many homes and schools. The residents were not even made aware that this was happening.

ok good reasons to not want it there. I am in Lindenhurst but I admit I don't read much of the mail that comes is so if we were notified I would have no idea.

where do they usually put cell towers anyway? why do they feel this location is good?

There are studies that say living near a cell tower will not cause cancer. However there are studies that say otherwise if you live to close to a cell tower and there are other studies showing other risks as well. I always look at all the mail before i toss it and they definitely never sent anything. Someone who lives across the street went and asked what they were doing when they had cranes there testing the soil. They usually do put them.near businesses but this is right in our village where there are SO many homes. This worries many of us over here. Having 3 close family members dealing with cancer makes it a huge concern for me right now as well.

I live right by there and tonight saw that page on Facebook. I'll help fight this tooth and nail if I have to.
We just bought our home last year and have no plans on ever leaving!!

Apparently this isn't the first time this town/village has done this. I think the last one was by Venetian shores and the residents were never notified. They didn't find out until it was too late and couldn't fight it. A petition will be going around soon. We were supposed to leave LI this year but because of some family medical problems we are not sure now when we can leave and this can also decrease the value of our homes.

I asked the Lindenhurst Gazette to check into this and they said they hadn't heard of this project. I'll let you know if Lance writes back to me with more details. But he's checking with Village Hall.

Bumping. There's a meeting at Village Hall tonight at 7pm regarding this.

I'm still not convinced one way or the other (especially since the village cannot deny them the land JUST for health concern reasons), but I'm attending the meeting with a friend.

Please let me know how the meeting went. I was unable to attend since my husband is working and I have no sitter.
