Advice Update

Hey ladies. Got into a car accident a few hours ago at 27 weeks pregnant. My car barely got scuffed but I definitely got jilted forward a little. Would you call the dr? The baby is moving but I'm still nervous.

Update: I didn't even hit my stomach and I ended up having a small tear on the placenta. Me and baby exchanged blood. I have to follow up with the maternal fetal medicine doctor in 7 days. I am on modified bed rest and there is a still risk for the baby.

Re: Advice

I probably wouldn't unless my stomach hit something or it was a bad accident. Actually I just remembered I was in a fender bender with my first dc, I never even thought to call. That being said, you know your body, if you think you should then by all means do!

If you feel nervous, a call wouldn't hurt. If you didn't hit your belly, I'm sure you are fine. But peace of mind is more important. Give a call

Advice

I fell on the ferry forward a few days ago. The next morning I felt pain in my stomach so I called my OB and they sent me to Labor and Delivery to get checked out. Took 7 hours, thanks to radiology, but found out all was ok. I think I would call only if I specifically hit my belly, had pain in my stomach or back, felt like I was having contractions or didn't feel the baby move. As long as your belly didn't hit and everything feels fine I probably wouldn't, especially after knowing it led to a 7 hour day in the hospital. But since I did have pain in my belly area, I would do it all over again.

Re: Advice

The doctor wanted me to get checked out so I went to labor and delivery. The baby looks good on the monitor but I needed the peace of mind.

Sending prayers that everything goes well. DD lost a lot of blood to me before she was born but we don't know the cause. I've read it can happen with trauma. I would just be extra vigilant about kick counts. Hopefully everything turns out okay!

Thanks love. Google once again has made me worry even though the doctor seemed pretty calm.

Chat Icon Google is the worst! DD is 6 weeks and seems to be perfectly healthy now and I still get massive anxiety when I start googling things.

Re: Advice Update

I was told I had a small placental abruption from trauma, when they rechecked they couldn't find anything so turns out it was more of a bruise than a tear, which looked the same on the ultrasound.

Just trying to give you some hope that all is ok. Stay away from google - the internet is evil!
