So the new IOS *needs* 5 gigs to download. It does not USE 5 gigs, just NEEDS 5 gigs.

I cant tell you all how many Facebook posts I have seen about deleting stuff to get the new Operating System. Pissed off posts about deleting pictures, apps etc etc.

Well, don't delete anything.

The trick? Download from your computer. If you upgrade your IOS from your COMPUTER (attaching the wire) then you don't need to delete anything.

Your welcome.

Always do major iPhone updates through iTunes. it saves time and space.

Can't you also do it via your phone if your connected to Wifi? Never had an issue downloading the updates. I actually feel like it takes longer when I do it via the PC.

You can update when connected to wifi but you need space on your phone. Those who don't have the space on their phones can update while connected to their computer.

Mine too! You have to restore then load your backup. I am having a really hard time getting the phone to restore. It keeps getting stuck on extracting software. Ugh!

Wait. Explain this to me. So I connect my phone to the computer and then I pick up my phone and do the download.. I don't do anything on my computer itself right? I am reallllllly slow with this technology stuff.

I did it through iTunes while my phone was plugged in bc I wanted to back up my phone first.

From what I found online this issue seems to happen if you do not have the latest version of iTunes installed on your computer. The failed update- two failed attempts at recovery-trouble shooting then ultimate recovery, update and installation of my backup took nearly three hours. So I would not recommend starting the process unless you have time to spare just incase.

Me, too. I called Apple Care and they said the servers are overloaded. I asked if I should wait to do my iPad and they said wait a week or two...

I ended up going to AT&T. I had to have the phone restored. I think I list everything because I'm an idiot and didn't bother backing my phone up first.
