I a thinking about having DD 4th bday party at California Pizza Kitchen, from what it sounds like when they walk in they get a paper chefs hat to decorate then they make their own pizza ... basically they put the cheese I think sauce and any toppings while its cooking they get tour of the kitchen and cooking area they eat then they get to decorate their own sundae I am waiting to hear back from them to exactly what is done.

Is this cute for a party or is it cheesy. DH thinks its kind of cheesy. I don't know if I could add some games to it but if I could what would I addChat Icon

I think it's cute, and you can't beat the price. It's something different than the usual bounce house parties, which are getting old. You could play pizza bingo (print some bingo cards)

Super cute! My SIL did this kind of party at home once and it was a lot of work - let CPK handle it!

I go through this with my DH all the time.
Things that might be cheesy to US as grown ups, are still the best thing EVER to little kids !!!
4 year olds will LOVE that - and YOU will love that the mess is a CPK !!

We did a joint party for my 5yo and 3yo in may there. It was a ninja turtle pizza party.
It was nice and early so everyone still had the rest of their day and the kids had tons a fun.

Cute! I remember touring Domino's with my brownies troupe when i was 6 or 7. Obviously if I still remember that all these years later I had a good time! I think 4 year olds would love it!

I think it's cute. DD is 3.5 and would definitely love a party like that. She's really into "helping" me cook dinner lately.

Love the idea. We did a chocolate party and would much rather of done a pizza party. The kids sat there for an hour with chocolate to decorate using tons of candy, melted chocolate then they kept adding more like pretzels, rice Krispy treats, marshmallows and other smores stuff and then they passed around choc covered pretzels for adults who gave some to the kids. It was a sugar nightmare. After they ate choc for an hour they gave pizza out then cake.

Love this idea so much better. I kept saying that I think they should give out barf bags for the goody bags. LOL! Although it was cute and DH loved it. Chat Icon

I had my DD's 4th bday party there and she loved it! It was a perfect age for it. That said - I had some issues with the party itself and California Pizza Kitchen. I am not one to complain after something is over and done with but it bothered me so bad I ended up getting in touch with corporate an writing this long letter explaining my disappointment in the party. They (corporate and regional director who called me personally) was so great about it. So I don't want to discourage anyone from using them but I would also not feel right if I didnt say that I wasn't 100% happy with it. This was the Lake Grove location.

Thanks to the OP of this thread. I just booked AJ's party LOL at our local CPK :) I polled a few of the girl scout moms and they were all super excited about it. I sent invites out for her August party and already have 6 kids signed up (considering I only expected like 10 this is huge).

We are super excited about it.

As favor holders we asked if CPK would give us pizza boxes. So I'm just bringing stuff (make your own pizza craft) and putting it in those!

I went to a party there in June and thought it was super cute. The kids make pizza, get a tour of the kitchen, eat the pizza they made and then it's pretty much run around.

Yeah Im thinking of bringing some coloring sheets to 'make our own pizza' to leave on the tables and maybe a pin the pepperoni on the pizza game if needed (make my own really)

Adorable.

Our best friend owns a pizza place in Northport - so I'll certainly be doing this at some point for DS.

Re: make your own pizza party ... cheesy (no pun intended) or cute?

My son was invited to a 4 year old birthday party at California pizza kitchen. I don't think it cheesy but I didn't think it was good for 4 year olds. Plus they where stuck in booths with just one other child and couldn't talk with their other friends. They all made their pizzas so quick. They just get a little cup of sauce and cheese. After they where done, there was a lot of down time. The kids looked bored and where starting to get antsy. The tour of the kitchen was cute. Four year old boys especially need to get out some energy. This is just my opinion though. Others might love the parties.
