TODAY'S THE DAY!!!.... update in first post
* gown ironed... check
* batteries for camera... check
* tissues for the crying... check
* flask for my pocket for dealing with grandma... check
the young man is at rehearsals.
i think i'm more excited than he is!
my tummy is doing somersaults, already!
UPDATE:
it was a lovely ceremony.
yes, i bought tissues and yes I LEFT THEM IN THE CAR. yeah, i'm a genius lol
the best part of the ceremony for me was when the superintendent of the board of ed was giving his speech. he called out the names of 7-8 kids. asked them to stand. these are the kids going into the service. THEY GOT A STANDING OVATION!!
you can imagine the tears of joy and pride.
my mother behaved (for the most part). i'll consider it a win because DS was not affected by her shenanigans... and it's in the past, now.
afterwards, we had a lovely dinner. now we're enjoying the afterglow of the day and watching netflix 
it was a good day!

I remember feeling the same way when my daughter graduated.
She was like "mom..it's no big deal".

That's great, congrats.
How long do you have to deal with your mom now?
she was asked to be here at noon. she showed up at 930.
we dropped her off at the train station right after the ceremony. she was complaining about it taking two hours to get home and how she has an early morning for work. luckily, she would only have to wait about 20 minutes for the next train into manhattan.
