You will need to spray and then remove the nest. Not sure how handy you are to remove the siding. and then once its removed patch up any opening to the inside.

Pay for a professional to come in and do it. I had one in the eaves. They HAD to come in with the whole suit etc. Im so sorry because this can be a REALLY big problem.

Re: How to kill bee nest in siding?

We had this EXACT issue. First the issue was we couldn't find the nest. Bees were coming into the den. We rarely go in the room, but I was finding them by the window. I finally called an exterminator and the guy was great. He was honest and found the hive on the outside of the house. This was in the Fall. He was honest and said he can do it, but we can do it ourselves. Get a good spray. First put a ladder on the side of the house since it was high up and then go away. Wait for the bees to stop buzzing around. Go there real early in the morning when it's coldest and there is no activity. Spray like crazy all over and just wait. Found a bee or two after and they finally stopped coming by. We were never able to get the nest off bc it's so high and hard to get to, but he said once the nest is dead they won't come back. He was right. After a week we never saw any bees again and they never came back

You bet! I know it sucks! Got good stuff at Home Depot (the spray). I forgot what the exterminator recommended to get, but any really goo bee spray should be fine enough to kill it along with the bees inside. Once it's dead the rest won't come anymore. I remember a week or so I'd see bees hitting into the window close to where the nest was or hive or whatever, but they had nowhere to go so they moved on.
I don't know too much about summer though so pick a day when it is cooler out. Also, where gloves in case. We left the ladder on the side for a day or so to pick the perfect cold day. DH went out before work around 6AM.
Good luck!

DH always sprays them at night. He says that's when they're all in the nest so you can get them all and they're a little calmer. He's never gotten stung doing it then.

Spray around dusk when the bees are sleeping and so you can see what you are doing. Just be ready to run.

Good Luck

How to kill bee nest in siding?

I would call a professional--there is a bee shortage and I think they can remove them without killing them.
I know bees are a PITA but are very important for our ecosystem!

Yes!! I don't know where you are located, but some time ago the Crossroads Farm in Malverne was offering to remove bee hives for free. Might be worth giving them a call about it. I imagine it has to be the right kind of bee (not wasps) but maybe they can point you in the right direction.

If you're going to do it yourself and at night, don't have someone holding a flashlight while someone else is spraying. The bees will go for the light and the person holding the light will have a problem.

Chances are that they are not bees, but wasps. We have had this happen twice and my SIL found the bathroom of her house that she just closed on FULL of them! The nests were quite large, larger than a can of HD spray could handle, even in the cold and dark.

So, it will depend on what size nest you have. If they are getting into your house, it may be large, like in-between two studs large. I'd call an exterminator and let a professional handle it.

Are you sure they are not yellow jackets? They are yellow and black like bees. Wasps look very different.

I would not try to remove yellow jackets yourself as they are very aggressive. They like to build hives in play sets, siding etc.

They often do rebuild as well.
