We stayed at the Comfort Suites just up the road from DW last year and we are staying there again this summer when we go.
Room is pretty large with a sofa bed, fridge, and microwave.
Our only complaint was that wifi was slow sometimes.
ETA: There is no outdoor pool, only a smallish indoor one. We didn't hang out at the hotel much though.

Recommend your dutch wonderland hotel
Right across the street at the Country Inn's and Suites! It was so great to be able to wake up, eat breakfast and walk across the street. Ride the rides for a bit, have a snack, ride some more. Walk back to the hotel for lunch and nap and thrn go back later for more rides!
Great prices, clean rooms and a good (free!) Breakfast!

We stayed at the holiday inn express that is located in one of the outlet centers. Spacious room, affordable rates and free breakfast which is a priority for us since DD loves her morning foods! They have a pool, but we didn't use it. It was less than a 5-min drive to Dutch wonderland.

Not free. It's a buffet or sit down. I think kids under a certain age eat the buffet for free.

We stayed at the Double Tree by Hilton a couple of times. They're great too! They have a nice indoor pool with both a small and large water slide along with some sprinklers.
