S/o airline seat
Has anybody flown with a britax advocate? It says it's allowed on the plane but it's huge. I don't want to get dd a seat and then be told I need to gate check her seat. Then I would be pissed bc I could have just done that to begin with and not spent the money on her seat.

I have the britax boulevard and we had no issues and it fit in the seat fine, not sure if they are the same size?

It's a little bigger bc it has the extra side protection. But dh and I would be next to her and I don't care if her seat takes up our space.

S/o airline seat
We just flew with it but gate checked it. We were on a small plane - no way would it have fit. I posted on the other thread, but I would not waste my money on a seat for a lap infant. Not to be morbid, but what do you think the car seat is keeping them safe from? If something happens, the car seat won't do anything. If just from turbulence, it would have to be insane turbulence for them not to be safe in your arms.

I purchased a smaller car seat to use on planes. I bout it at BRU for less than $100. We were flying to Europe and there was no way we were lugging his huge Britax around. I forgot the brand name but if you want to know I can check and get back to you.

I know what you mean. It's more that at 17 months she won't want to be held for 3 hours. And I don't like the idea of gate checking it bc they toss those things around.

you can get one of those harnesses, i was debating doing that. Back in February there was a United Airlines flight that hit turbulence and a baby flew out of the parents arms. Also, if there's an incident when landing it could be an issue. You just never know, why take a chance.

Because plane tickets are expensive! Anything can happen anywhere, anytime. You weight the risks vs. the costs and decide what you are willing to take a chance on. I personally am willing to take a chance on a plane. My DDs would have been beyond miserable in their car seats (we just flew last weekend with a 12 month old on my lap and an almost 3 year old). I gate checked two car seats and a stroller and everything arrived both ways in perfect condition.

My kids would never want to be in their car seats the whole flight - they much prefer to be held! I guess they are all different!

All kids are definitely different. There's no way DS would sit in my lap for a flight. I wish he would bc that would save us a few bucks!

i know they are expensive. Me personally I feel more comfortable buying him a seat and paying more money, I don't want to take any chances. JMO.

Re: S/o airline seat
I bought my DS the Evenflo - Tribute Sport Convertible Car Seat from Walmart. We used it to fly twice already. You are better off with a smaller seat. Bigger seats are just more of a pain to try to maneuver in a tight space.

Go on the airline website and see what the seat dimensions are. I know southwest posts this info so I am sure others do too.
