Dear Coworker

I have listened politely to your endless stories about your kid.

I agree that he is cute but I do not want to hear about him every. damn. day.

I do not want hear another story about his bathroom habits.
I do not want to hear about what you consider his clever bon mots.
I do not want to hear about how gifted or advanced you think he is, he seems like an average 5 year old to me.
Do not interrupt my lunch when I'm grabbing a few precious minutes to decompress or text my husband to tell me about his latest critique of what you cooked for dinner last night.
I have not asked ONCE about him because I know that, without fail, you will come up to me at least 5 times a day to tell me about him.
We are not friends. You have never ONCE asked about my life. You have never asked about my husband that I have to leave behind in another state to work at this site all week. You have never asked what I am interested in. You have walked away or ignored me when I have been talking about something that has happened to me.
So tomorrow, when I express absolutely NO interest in another one of your stories about your kid, go bug someone else. Or better, go do some work. And that doesn't mean surfing parenting message boards while pretending to do work.

oh.dear.lord.

I believe I would have to be rude BACK at this point (because she is indeed being rude to you) and just start ignoring her. Hopefully she'll get the hint and latch onto someone who gives a *^%$$

That's annoying. Can you sit with headphones on while you're taking your lunch break so she doesn't interrupt?

Re: Dear Coworker

oh.my.word.

Cut her off next time she starts.
Tell her I don't have the time to chat right now, I have work to do/a phone call to make/need to eat my lunch.

Hopefully she will get the hint after a few tries.

Got a co-worker like that too, but she can talk on an on about anything. I wind up cutting her off at some point to get my work done.

I wish I could! I have about 2-3 weeks at this site and then I should be done except for a few check in visits.
The funny thing is, if she didn't constantly annoy ne with inane stories about him, I would more than likely ask about him. I like looking at peoples' pictures of their kids and hearing about how they are doing. I just don't want a constant running commentary. And I NEVER want to hear about their bathroom habits. NEVER. JUST NO.
