Do I need entertainment?
What do you guys think? For dd's 1st bday. Will have about 40 adults and here is the break down of kids
6 - 1 year olds
2 - 6 1/2 year olds
1 - 3 yr old
1 - 2 yr old
1 - 1 1/2 yr old

Do I need entertainment?
I am having a similar number of kids and adults. I hired Professional Kids Entertainment. When is your DD's party? Mine is in 2 weeks, so if after that I can let you know how they are!

Here is the link to what is included. It is $225 for an hour, and they said that is all that is necessary with that number of kids. Party Package

Do what you think is good for you. We had quite a few kids at our daughters first birthday and the age range was a mix. Her party was at a restaurant and I thought they might just get bored sitting there for 4 hours. So we got a Minnie Mouse to come, did a few dances, parachute, and tattoos. They stayed about an hour and it worked out well.

Do I need entertainment?
My opinion is no they can entertain themselves same as we did when we were kids. We are having 12 kids ranging from 1 to 9 and they'll be fine. We however are having it at my house though so they can go outside, play video games, etc.

We had a similar breakdown of ages at my son's first bday party at a restaurant. I spent $20 on stuff for a kids' activity table - play doh and tools, plastic animal figures, tattoos, crayons and activity books, etc., and then the kids took whatever they wanted home. It worked out well.

We had entertainment come to my niece's baptism for an hour and it was great! Even the adults had fun. Let me know if you would like their info!!

For my twins' first bday we had Professional Kids Entertainment and they were fantastic. We had it in a hall. For my sons 1st birthday we had a back yard party and did not have entertainment and the kids all entertained themselves. They were fine. it really is up to you. But professional kids entertainment was great!

I had about 15 kinds ranging from 6 months to 12 years old. I got some of the felt stickers and had them at each table and I had thought that would be enough. The party was at a restaurant so I did have some concerns over keeping them kids entertained. At last minute we decided to hire a balloon twister for an hour. He was such a hit and worth every penny.

I would do something. Kids get bored. All the kids sat for ours. Ages 1-4. We also had a craft table.

Where are you having it? We had DD's 1st birthday in our backyard with a similar age range of kids, and did not have professional entertainment. We had a water table, small ball pit, a bounce house owned by my sister, an inexpensive bubble machine, and a craft for the older kids to do. We borrowed a kids' picnic table from a friend. Everyone had a great time.
If it's in a hall or restaurant, I would consider hiring entertainment.

Thanks all who responded. I decided against it. This party is already costing a small fortune.
I will have an activity table with books, coloring books and crayons, stickers, Legos, baby toys and bubbles. There will also be music and a dance floor.
The parents can entertain them or they can entertain each other. Almost all are 1 year old with a 6 yr old, 3 yr old and 2 1/2 yr old.

I had music, bubbles, a water table (was summer) and a few beach balls. Between that and the food, the kids entertained themselves for hours!
