Ronkonkoma Btwn LIE and Airport
Does anyone live in Ronkonkoma between the LIE and the Airport? We are thinking of possibly buying in that area close to the LIE.
We went there on the weekend and were wondering if it is very noisy with the airport and train so close by? It didn't seem noisy on the weekend but during the week it could be different with a lot of trains running.

Ronkonkoma Btwn LIE and Airport
This probably doesn't help lol but I live about 2 miles N of the LIE and on a quiet night, I can hear the train pretty well and the tracks are 3 miles from me.

I'm north of the LIE by the lake and we love it here.
Me too. North of LIE, and we never hear the train, and rarely hear any planes. Really nice areas up here. Lots of nice neighborhoods on both sides of Motor Pkwy at the very end of it, near the lake.

Were in holbrook south of the lie. Planes fly low as they approach the airport. Sometimes on our deck we can actually see people. It doesn't bother me but I'm use to it. I only hear the train at night and it's so low it never wakes me. I think it's a great area.

The hub won't affect you really unless you are buying right on top of the ronkonkoma train station.

I grew up in Ronkonkoma south of the LIE, but I always thought that near the lake wasn't so great. I remember back then hearing gangs hang out near the lake. Has the area changed?

I'm south of the LIE and west of Ocean Avenue. We don't hear any airplanes....ever. I'm close to the train, one block away. I grew up in Queens with lots of different noises and the noise from the train doesn't bother me.
I wouldn't worry about the HUB. It will be years before it's completed and it only going to affect the train station area.
I wouldn't count this area out. There are some nice houses for sale.

The HUB and Islip Pines will be feeding into the Sachem school district. It will affect the school district because the kids will be tax abated. It's a mess waiting to happen for that district. It will be an issue if you have small children now. If you buy in Ronkonkoma I would stick to Connetquot SD--just my opinion  Trust me when I tell you it's something to be concerned about...

I've been here for 18+ years, and have never seen nor heard of any gang-related activity.

I live between portion and the LIE. I hear the LIE and he trains. Planes in the last 4 yrs I'm here have also increased and changed flight patterns. I hear massive jets all day.

I am North of the LIE off Motor Parkway, in the Lakeland/Lake Hills area, no gangs, don't hear the train, hear the planes sometimes

I am between the LIE and the Airport - on the Holbrook side. I'm just north of Union Ave. You get used to the planes and I only hear the trains at night and not regularly.
I love the area.
