Andrew Garfield snubbed batkid
Not even a 5-year-old boy with cancer could persuade egotistical actor Andrew Garfield to be a presenter at the Academy Awards.
The “Spider-Man” star was supposed to take the stage Sunday with Miles Scott, who has come to be known as “Batkid” after the city of San Francisco let him play superhero there.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences had arranged with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to further make Miles’ dreams come true.
“The academy was going to make him an official superhero during the Oscar ceremony. Andrew Garfield was going to appoint him ‘Batkid.’ But, in the middle of the dress rehearsal, Garfield decided he didn’t like his lines,” said a well-placed source.
“Garfield refused to go by the script. He came up with his own lines. The producers felt that Garfield’s [rewrites] were not appropriate. Garfield had a tantrum. He stormed off. Miles and his family, who were at the rehearsal, were devastated.”
The producers decided to cut the superhero initiation, but they paid for Miles to go to Disneyland.
“Garfield was such a spoiled brat that he didn’t even want to be a presenter,” said my source. The academy had to call “Captain America” star Chris Evans to sub at the last minute.

What an a$$hole..... Who the hell is he, in the grand scheme of actors KIWM? I hope this knocks him down a few pegs.

hes a douche, but for the producers to get the kids hopes up like that and then not figure out a way to make it work, makes it even sadder.

Exactly! There are so many other batmans that would have done it...even Val Kilmer would have made it work.

Exactly! There are so many other batmans that would have done it...even Val Kilmer would have made it work.
If they were able to get SuperHero "Captain America" to sub as presenter, why couldn't he do the Batkid bit, too? 
Adam West would come to the opening of an envelope. They could have easily gotten him to participate...

Christian Bale is another DBag... he looked like the last place he wanted to be was sitting front row at The Oscars. Not even Pharrell could make him "happy"

Now that I read this, I remember seeing promos for the Oscars and they said that Andrew Garfield was going to introduce the newest superhero - and they showed a clip of some huge white curtain being pulled down to reveal someone. I just figured it was some new film character thing. . . to now read that it was supposed to be Batkid just breaks my heart. Who wasn't touched by that story of Batkid and seemingly the entire city of San Francisco coming out for his "Make a Wish" day come true? Such a shame.

I am very surprised I've read stories of Andrew Garfield walking around the city in his superman getup surprising kids and being very nice, I feel like there has to be more to the story. And the academy dropped the ball there are so many other superheroes they could have had do this

Agreed! It's one thing to decline doing it but to be a d!ck about it in front of the kid, geez, what an asshat. They really should've just let Captain America do it! I know, he's kinda lame as far as superheroes go, but still.

Now this is more like it. After a segment featuring Andrew Garfield and "Batkid" Miles Scott was cut from the Oscars on Sunday, March 2, Garfield opted to spend the day with Miles and his family at Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif.
"Due to the nature of a live show, hard decisions sometimes must be made which require the Academy to cut segments due to the logistics of production," a rep for the Academy told Fox411 of why the planned bit was scrapped at the last second. "Andrew Garfield understood that his segment had to be omitted, and he drove to Disneyland on Monday to spend time with 5-year-old Miles Scott (Batkid) and his family."
The Academy's statement comes on the heels of a report from the New York Post's Page Six, which claimed that Garfield backed out of the segment. A source reportedly told the site that "the Academy was going to make [Miles] an official superhero during the Oscar ceremony...but, in the middle of the dress rehearsal, Garfield decided he didn't like his lines."
The report further alleged that the Spider-Man actor "stormed off," leaving Miles' family "devastated." However, a story from the Hollywood Reporter claims the bit simply wasn't coming together. "Basically, because of the fluid nature of live TV production, ultimately the segment didn't work," an Academy rep explained. (Chris Evans was later brought in to present in Garfield's place.)
In any case, Batkid's experience in Hollywood isn't likely to be forgotten. How many kids can say they've spent a day at the happiest place on Earth with Spider-Man?

Eh, I'm not buying it. If he were already there and everything, why wouldn't they just have him present? Why did they need to scramble to bring in Chris Evans? He's trying to save face, but at least the kid gets to spend time with Spiderman which is what's ultimately the most important thing.

I heard he had to back out suddenly because his girlfriend emma stones mom is sick, she has a very aggresive form of breast cancer and it might of returned and he wanted to be with her
