what is the going rate for babysitters these days?
I've been talking to other moms but before I throw the amount out there I'm curious what you all pay for your sitters. I know these things vary by neighborhood, experience and age.

what is the going rate for babysitters these days?
i usually pay $10 an hour for a sitter. and $8 for a mother's helper.

Same and for 3 kids I do $15/hr if they're all awake, that is.

High school sitters. Kids are asleep. About $10-12 and usually a little on top to round up. It's very hard here where I am to find sitters. So we want to keep them lol

ok I asked because the sitter I'm speaking to charges $12 and she is 17. I'm only looking to pay $10, I'd definitely throw in extra and round up but I feel for a HS student she is charging a lot. If it was a college student with more experience then maybe I'd be ok with $12 but I polled my friends with sitters and all of them pay $10.

Boy in the neighborhood that's 17. He charges $10/hour. We always round up so he gets more anyway.
We have two boys. Most of the time my 2 year old is in bed when he comes over and he just entertains my 4 yr old for a bit. Once my 2 year old was up bc it was early and we only were out for an hour.

what is the going rate for babysitters these days?
We pay $15 an hour, but she is a professional nanny, and she just babysits for us during non-business hours when she is not working for her nanny service. (She is in her 40's, grown kids, etc., not a teenager/weekend spending money sort of thing) We only use her maybe once a month for special events.

$10 an hour for a 17 yr. old babysitter
I have 2 kids so we usually give her a bit more if both kids are up and she needs to put them to bed.

$12 per hour sounds reasonable to me. We pay $13 for our nighttime sitter- she's in college. I think spending the extra $ for a good sitter is worth it. Our daytime sitter (40 yr old) get s paid $20 per hours- about 16 hours per week and vaca $$.
