Re: Sound of music live
I had to turn it off, it made me uncomfortable it was so bad. Like, when a comic is bombing on stage....

Not sure but I have to say it's growing on me. At first I thought it was awful but it has grown on me and I think they are doing a pretty decent job considering it's live.

Same here...just small annoyances like how Stephen Moyer doesnt seem manly enough to he Georg and how Carrie Underwood can just never be Julie Andrews.

Carrie underwood is a terrible actress and their is no chemistry with her and anyone.
I doubt it will be online as the keep advertising that you will be able to buy it on DVD at walmart. Not sure why they think anyone will do that!

I didn't think it was great- Carrie Underhood is a terrible actress- but the Walmart ads were what made me change the channel. I hate Wal-mart and got sick of the commercials.

Re: Sound of music live
It was ok at best. I found more than anything, it was just boring. I fast forwarded through most of it.
Nothing can replace the original movie. This live production isn't really worth seeing again...........I'm sticking with Julie Andrews and the classic film that I love.

Love the movie too much to enjoy it. The singing is great but there was no wow factor.

I agree. I tuned in about an hour in and only watched for about 20 minutes, but from what I saw it seemed like they put more into rehearsing the songs than their acting.

Re: Sound of music live
I thought the singing was great but poor Carrie has no acting skills. I don't think it's fair to compare it to the movie anyhow, this was a live performance, it was modeled after the original broadway show not the movie.

Re: Sound of music live
It was just awkward. I know Carrie is a great singer, but even her singing was off. I think she did better in the second half, seemed to relax a bit. I only kept it on to hear Audra McDonald. I absolutely LOVE her voice!!

Sound of music live
i think it got better as it went on. i really wanted to love it because i LOVED the premise of what they were doing. i think for a live, 3 hour production, they did a very good job. carrie can sing her a$$ off, but can act for sh#t!

Re: Sound of music live
I never liked the movie & don't really remember it, but I watched part of this because I was curious about the format.
I agree that it can't really be compared to a movie because it isn't one.
Carrie's acting was terrible though. She seemed so stiff, but she looked & sounded good, as usual.
I thought Stephen Moyer was great, but I kind of think that in general.

Re: Sound of music live
I agree with everyone above about Carrie's acting being stiff but I think her voice was great. I was also sooooo annoyed by the Walmart commercials. I thought it was okay when I watched it on Thursday.
My kids (5 & 3) have never seen the original movie. I DVRed this version for them to watch. They absolutely love it. We are now on the 3rd watching of the movie. They are even singing the songs around the house. In a world where every movie these days for their age group is 3D this is actually refreshing. I would love if NBC did something like this every year. I think it's a great introduction for kids and I am sure they learned from reviews. I hope it does not stop them from trying another play.

I understand that but I saw the movie too many times as a kid to give the show a chance. As I said, the singing was great and I'm sure performing this live is quite a task. However, I just love the movie too much. But I also prefer movie musicals to live shows. So this (and I'm sure the original) never stood a chance with me.
