I don't know if this is "drama" but I posted about my husband being overseas in afghanistan for half a year..I was sad, anxious, scared etc...

Someone had the nerve to write something along the lines of that he wasn't truly "serving" because he wasn't a soldier. Like what he was doing there was no where near as important as what a marine/army personnel do. Even though he was working in the middle of kandahar air base which had rocket attacks weekly, and was in danger, and left his family for half a year to serve, she made my feelings feel unwarranted and reduced me to tears in a second. And a few other jumped on the bandwagon until some of you lovely ladies supported me and told me not to listen to it.

Ahhhh good old LIF. sometimes a real pick-me-up, sometimes a slap in the face, lol

I remember that and that person was a total jerk, IMO, because they kept arguing semantics since you used the word "deployed" and apparently they took issue with that. Who cares what word you used!

Yes. I don't think I was a "victim" per se, but I once applauded Pink for not going into hiding and for looking "real" bc she was photographed with a belly and some bloat after giving birth. A male poster got offended bc his wife apparently lost all of her belly and weight instantly after giving birth therefore, in his mind, I was saying his wife was "not a real woman." It was one of the most odd and ridiculous things I have ever experienced on here.

lol I remember that it was so bizarre.

I been told to relax a few times on the celeb board when I don't agree with posters. Don't call Jay Z an idiot on there.Chat Icon

One thing that aggravates me is when I or another poster responds with a valid argument or correct someone but the posters ignore the one sensible post and keep attacking and harping on the drama. Lol

Ha, this is true.

They keep feeding the animals at the zoo.

Literally cracking up! Best line!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

YES!! Thats what it was, lol. It started over the use of the word "deployed". Which is exactly what it was, a deployment. Doesn't matter whether you're on the field fighting, sitting in an air traffic control tower, or behind computers tracking terrorists...you're deployed! And she said it was disrespectful to those , like her dad, who actually served to use that term. A few others agreed and made me feel awful when I was already a scared, upset, anxious mess. Ugh.
I'm getting mad again just thinking about it, lol...

Have you ever been a victim of a drama thread?

I've been on here quite awhile so I'm sure I have but it mattered so much that I can't really recall any instance! Chat Icon

True story.

In the scheme of things this site is MEANINGLESS (sorry admin but it's the truth!) and if I really got upset over every disagreement I've had on here I'd be rather butt hurt often. This shit just isn't worth it.

A FREAKING MEN!!!!!!!!!! I get excited when DS1 is at school and DS2 has a program with no parents allowed at the library….it's a 1/2 hour but it's the quietest 1/2 hour of my life.

And yes yes I have. In more ways then one. I don't post that much on here anymore because I got tired of the constant Chat Icon , especially on the parenting board.

I remember that & I think half the people who responded were full of crap. They weren't exactly exemplary moms. As my mom says, the moms who make sure their kids are safe and well are the ones who need a break sometimes! Some moms don't understand that because they ignore their kids anyway.

I remember so many of these drama threads but I rarely remember who the OPs were. I'm more likely to remember who started crap with someone who didn't day or so anything wrong.

Once. I honestly can't remember what it was about but, it was on parenting. It wasn't a 10 pager either but, I was a little shocked and did my best to diffuse it.

Re: Have you ever been a victim of a drama thread?

Yup.
Eta most of the time I was ok with it, because I said something controvertial or knew my opinion may not be accepted by everyone. But the only one that upset me and made me realize I need to move away from LIF was when I posted about my stepdaughters' house fire, and a poster I'm not too familiar with started posting about the state of their house (their mom was a hoarder). It was very upsetting. I politely FM'D her to stop and she taunted me and said the house fire was our fault because we didn't help them and am I guilty much? It was so evil and cruel spirited.

It's one thing if I get flack for being me, but when kids are involved who were in an awful situation and being mean about it.... That's when I realized the level people can get to on here. I found it so deeply disturbing, especially knowing this person was a mother and raising kids. She clearly was disturbed. I'm still not sure who that person was.

Honestly.... My first emotion was sadness that someone can be THAT ill to say something like that. Sadness for her more than anyone else. And then.... Fear. For the same reason. Chat Icon
