How many kids are in your elementary's kindergarten class?
DS starts kindergarten in VA next year. Down here, there are about 24-25 kids per class and there is one main teacher and an aide. In 1st grade, the class size remains the same but there will be no aide. Trying to gauge if this is a large class or not.
DS has 16 kids in his pre-k class with 2 teachers and even that class seems pretty hectic to me. the private schools in our area have 5-16 kids per kindergarten class with 1-2 teachers. You are obviously paying for the small class sizes.

How many kids are in your elementary's kindergarten class?
We had 27 in Kindergarten. Now in 1st we have 21. They only have 5 sections in our school for K, and they have 6 sections for 1st and 2nd. So stupid that they do it that way!

Here in Ohio my daughters class has 25. In Arizona my 1st daughters class had 28.

My son goes to private school and there were 29 kids last yr. t was a huge class. One teacher and an assistant.

Texas State Law says 20 is the max
But schools can get vouchers to expand that number (and they all do it).
AJ's started off with 25, lost 5 then got 2 added so she's at 22.
One teacher only
Public School
The Montessori she was at had about 26 in the 'lower elementary' class of Kinder/1st/2nd all combined with a teacher and an assistant.

No, public on LI.
Eta: I am not sure about the other grades but I know. That for K the max they will have in any one class is 20 students. So let's say there are 40 kids enrolled for K that would be two classrooms but if an additional kid is enrolled making it now 41 they would then need 3 classrooms.

Last year DS had 18 kids in K, the other classes had between 15-17. This year DS has 20 kids in 1st grade. I know one child is moving in December so it will be 19. This is public school in NJ.

It depends on the year. In our school...last year class cap for K was 18 and 20 for 1st. This year it is 20 for K and 24 for 1st. My DD has 23 in her 1st grade.

26 - Catholic School, NJ. One teacher and one aide. I was surprised it was so high. I thought catholic school would have a smaller class size.
