Please recommend a good champange for making mimosas

I want to have mimosas in the party bus when we are headed out to the wineries for my sisters bachelorette party. I am guessing sweet champagne is better than dry but can anyone recommend a good but inexpensive brand? And also how many bottles of champagne and how many 1/2 gallons of OJ for about 12 people to have 1-2 glasses each? Thanks.

I don't think you should use sweet champagne. The OJ will be sweet enough. This summer we drank a lot of mimosas with Andre.

I use Friexnet (sp?) - the one in the black bottle.

I'd guess 4 bottles of champagne would be a good amount, and maybe 2 cartons of OJ

Definitely a dry or brut. I'd also recommend Korbel.

Yes don't go sweet.
I buy something cheap.
Korbel works great for them.

Thanks so much! Also, I was going to buy plastic champagne flutes but they are so small so I was worried about refilling them in a moving bus. Should I just get cups or stay "fancy"?

Freixenet is a good sparkling wine/cava. If you want a real champagne that's inexpensive, go with Perrier Jouet or Nicholas Feulliete (I butchered that spelling!). Brut will mean dry.

I always buy prosecco when I am making mimosas or any champagne cocktail. I like Zardetto and Martini & Rossi, but for mimosas I would get any brand because the juice flavors the drink more than anything. The champagne or prosecco or cava (or sparking wine of choice!) pretty much is just a vehicle for bubbles and alcohol in the drink. Most liquor stores carry a few $10 bottles of prosecco (by the champagne section).

I would go with cups, but you can get the clear cups smaller cups, not giant solo cups, if you want to make it a little classier. But I think a cup is a good idea for the limo because it fits in a cup holder. For my sil's bachelorette party, we drank champagne drinks in the limo, but it was nice to be able to put them down in the limo's cup holders when we wanted to. The plastic champagne flutes will need to be held all the time, and as you said, you will be doing constant refills!

Aside from orange juice for mimosas, you can always bring some peach nectar (Goya sells it in little cartons) to make bellinis, which are always a fun drink, too, if you wanted to have options.
