Help me research a new state to live!!!!
Dh and I have been planning on moving out of state for a long time. We have a 2 year plan and are pretty much set on Georgia, right outside of Atlanta. Being that we have a couple of years to move out, I would like to continue to research some places and see if there are any better options for us. Here is our criteria:
-within 1 hr of major city
-budget: 200,000-250,000 for a 4 bedroom 1800 sq ft house
-within 20 hr drive to Long Island

when Dh and I were playing with the idea of moving off of long island we were looking into Summerville, South Carolina. It is within 35 minutes of Charleston. The houses meet your criteria. 14-15 hour drive from long island. Good schools.

Help me research a new state to live!!!!
Delaware. There are some great areas about an hour or so of Philadelphia or Baltimore and depending where, is 2 1/2-3 1/2 hours from LI. The suburbs of Wilmington and the Newark area come to mind. I went to college there and I would have moved there too if DH ever wanted to leave LI.

Charlotte NC? 200k will give you plenty of square footage and bedrooms.
Just don't know if you consider Charlotte a major city

We have also really searched and Summerville is #1 on our lists as well . My other choices are Waxhaw, NC ( close to Charlotte, awesome schools and higher pay then other areas we looked at in NC) and Hendersonville , TN ( friends just moved there, gorgeous area on the Lake, right outside of Nashville)...

What about Cary, NC? I'm not sure about the house prices but I've heard from numerous people that it is a very desirable area to live in. So many New Yorkers move there, that the NC residents actually made an acronym out if it: Containment Area for Relocated Yankees
If DH and I ever move out of state, it will most likely be to here

I actually just moved to Georgia a few weeks ago. We live 40 mins away from Atlanta. We LOVE it! I have lived in both LI and Chicago, so this was a huge change. The area we live in is so peaceful and beautiful, and I am totally loving how everything near us is new and recently built. After years of city life in Chicago, we totally needed this!

besides what others have mentioned, my cousin moved to the Houston, TX area, and loves it, says he makes more money there since there is no state income tax. They also had a beautiful house built there (he is in a suburban area outside of the city), I want to say it was like 240k or something like that. Good luck!

Suwanee Ga. We have been here for 7 years and love it. It has been ranked a top ten place to live three times in the last 7 years. This is the latest top ten list. It really is fantastic and the schools can't be beat. If you have any questions let me know.
