Update at bottom: Toddler w/possible clogged tear duct- Dr. Cossari/Village Eye Care

My 23month old probably has a clogged tear duct and we have an appointment with Dr Cossari next week.

Had anyone used him? The receptionist was a little gruff on the phone...and she said prepare for a 2 hour visit. :/

Also, if your DC had the surgery with Dr Cossari, how was Mather hospital?

TIA

The Dr is gruff too. I was not a fan and will not be taking my son back there. We were there for close to 3 hours and there was no warm, cuddly pediatric atmosphere. Maybe he had a bad day, but NOTHING about that Dr made me feel like he was in pediatrics.

DD and DS both had clogged tear ducts. DS's cleared up at 10 months but we had an appointment w/Dr. Marmer in Plainview. I heard AMAZING things about him from many, many people. IF your DC needs a consult or surgery I would DEF recommend him. I heard it could take a while to get an appointment though.

ETA: DD's cleared up around 6 months

Toddler w/possible clogged tear duct- Dr. Cossari/Village Eye Care

I despise that doctor...DD is autistic and hates people touching her face. When I made the appointment I explained that to them and that she is most likely going to cry with the drops. They said no problem, they work with special needs children all the time....At the appointment I was telling him that she had a lazy eye..I still forget the correct term and he kept correcting me knowing exactly what I was talking about, and in a mean condescending way like I was an idiot. Then when she started to cry with the drops he said very loudly that if DD comes back make sure to put on the chart that he needs to take two aspirin first. I won't say what followed that : ) but he is a jerk.

We hated him. He wasn't very good with DS and didn't tell us anything just told us to get him some glasses.
We are going to a different dr. who is younger and way better with DS.

Yikes! Maybe I'll call the other Dr my ped recommended and see if they take my insurance. I don't need a Dr to coddle us, but I don't want to bring DD to a mean Dr either!

ETA: When I searched his name on this forum, he seemed to have a lot of positive feedback, which made me call him over the other Dr on the list...I'm a little surprised by how many people didn't like him, but glad I asked!

I have used Marmor and Cossari. I like Marmor way more. He has an office in Port Jefferson also. It is a long wait i feel where ever you go however:/

My pediatrician rec Marmor but after sitting on hold for 56 minutes (before giving up) when i tried to make the appt, I gave up on them. I'm dreading next year's appt. Have to find a new Dr before that.

Update:

We kept the appointment and I'm so happy we did. The waiting room had tons of toys to play with. Hardly a wait at all and everyone was very nice.

DD screamed the entire time but the Dr did the exam and explained everything to me. I had no issues. If you need a Dr who is going to cottle and hug, he's not the guy, but If you want a competent medical professional, I would recommend him!
