I only sat in the backseat the ride home from the hospital and the first visit to the doctor. DS is 15 weeks and I just sit in the front.

I sat back there the first few months when DS would scream each time the car would stop. I'd have to hold a pacifier in his mouth. I sometimes do it on very long car trips (DS is 2.5).

I didn't because I had to go back to work at 12 weeks. He had to sit alone each day I commuted

Twice. Once on the way home from the hospital an the second was one the way home from a surgery he had.
I don't see the need. No one is back there when I drive him alone so why be back there if DH is driving.

DS is 14mos and 90% of the time if there's more than one driver, one person is back there. It's not because we have to, we want to. I don't see the big deal. And when we drive alone with DS he's fine by himself.

Sitting in backseat
DS is now 8 months and I actually just stopped about 2 wks ago. DH asked me to. I was totally fine w/it, it never even occurred to me to. I have had to sit backwards in my seat once or twice to try and calm him down but it hasn't been that big of a deal. ITA w/what others say, do what makes you comfy. FYI, we are planning to make a few trips upstate over the summer. I am sure DH & I will switch off sitting in the back w/him since he has never been on that long of a car ride.

same but with 2 car seats i am squished so i may have done it longer if just 1

When Dh drive he wanted me in. Backseat until recently. She is 8 weeks and we just stopped lol.
