Should I make a complaint?

We had our anatomy scan today and the sono tech was beyond rude and out of line! My appt was 6 and I had a full bladder. Wwell they didn't take us for 45min and by 630 I was in pain from my bladder and had to go. Well first she lectured me about emptying my bladder. Then I laughed a few times about the baby being uncooperative and she snapped I was ruining her pictures. Then she did not approve of dh and I getting the gender in a sealed envelope to find out with our families and she spent 5 min trying to convince us otherwise. Then I got the gel on my hand and went to wipe it off and she basically made some comment about after the first I wouldn't make a big deal about stuff getting on me as if I was prissy. Last she hands me the sealed envelope and makes a hmph laughing noise and shrugs her shoulders at me. She is lucky I'm not a crazy pregnant lady because I was so tempted to tell her where she could go! Ok vent over...thoughts?

Definitely complain. Completely inappropriate. If someone like that was wOrking for me, I wOuld definitely want to know.

Ps... we got the gender in a sealed envelope this time and it was awesome. And the staff all thought it was a great idea.

That's terrible! I would definitely complain. but not about the wait and lecture about emptying your bladder...I had to wait 1.5 hours for my appt and got the same lecture when I said I had up pee...I think they just want to cover their a** in case they can't get a good view of baby and need you to come back another time.
But everything else is completely inappropriate! Sorry you had such a bad experience; going for Sonos should be fun and exciting!

Yes complain! Chances are she is rude to other women. I would think the Dr would need multiple complaints on records to fire her. I had an awful tech like this once. I wonder if its the same lady.

Re: Should I make a complaint?

I actually had a very similar experience and I complained to the ultrasound facility and my doctor. After that, I never went back.

Do you mind saying where you went? In all of my many, many sonos I NEVER had to have a full bladder.

Re: Should I make a complaint?

It was at the lij antepartum center. When we went for the nt the tech was great! And I didn't know where the bathroom was so I asked if it was such a big deal I should have been told not to use it...plus after the baby didn't cooperate the dr came in and had me pee again so I don't see what the issue was and obviously my bladder wasn't empty if I peed again. I have a dr appt today and I'm going to mention it.

Re: Should I make a complaint?

LIJ is very big on patient satisfaction-- they are a magnet hospital and bad reviews can hider this! Def write a letter- write a few in fact and get the techs name. She should not treat patients this way and she is prob getting away with it bc people are not saying anything ab her behavior. Hospitals like this will not take disciplinary action unless patients step forward and tell what happened! So sorry you had to go through this! Many Chat Icon Chat Icon

** edited to add--
I always had my sonos there and the techs were all amazing.. but they have many coming in and out bc it's a teaching hospital so def voice your concerns!

Re: Should I make a complaint?

I would complain. I go to the same place and I dont think they are that great. I always have to wait. The techs are ok but for my anatomy scan she literally gave me the worst pictures ever. Like she didnt even try to get me a good one.
