what is the point of inquiry work?
Is it just busy work? Because thinking back over the past few years about how much time it has taken, I'm baffled.

Busy work!!!
We do this work hand it in and never get it back to do anything with. And a lot of the work is writing effective questions or reading common core stuff and writing what it means - dumb!!!!!
We would much rather plan as a grade.
We are also now doing vertical teams, not sure what will come of that

And can i say that there is a special place for Lucy calkins and Charlotte danielson? I am so sad for future generations of teachers.

I am not ready to knock danielson, rumor has she is not happy with what the city is doing with her rubric or whatever you want to call it.

It's almost comforting that other teachers feel the way I do...we don't have any real direction/purpose for this..

I saw Lucy speak at TC...at one point she brushed off a question saying she wasn't exactly sure what it all means. Msybe it was the way she said it, but it sounded like she didn't even know her own studies.

If this were MY rubric, and I was unhappy with how NYC was using it, then I'd speak up. She should do the same.

i think she's changed her tune recently....she's prob making $$$ on it now and doesn't want that to stop

I run an inquiry at my school and we are looking at the best way to match students with appropriate curriculums...and my admins are going to use the results to plan groups and classes next year, so it feels productive to me. But we did one last year that was BS. It all depends on the project.
