SKYLANDERS HELP!
My nephew wants a few of the new skylander giants for Christmas, and I said I'd get him one.
I'm on amazon, and I see Hot Head for $14.99. This is the description...
Product Description Skylanders Giants Hot Head Figure Released in Early December
Is this the actual game piece, or just a stupid plastic figurine?
I came across another giant online and it was $79.99, and now I'm totally confused...lol
Help!

The game for the wii or PS3 is 79.99. You need to buy plastic figures like the one you listed to be able to be that character in the video game. The game pieces are between 10-20.

Yeah, the plastic figures are part of the game. As long as he has the game already, the figure it what you need. My DH is basically getting my nephew a complete set through all the holidays. it's nuts

He's what i have learded about Sklyander Giants. My son has all of the original Sklylander characters, game and portal. I originally thought that i could just buy some of the new GIANT characters and that they would intergrate with the game he already has...but after some research and discussing it with 2 employees at Toys R Us, it turns out that the GIANTS do not intergrate, you need the Sklyanders Giants game. (you can use your original portal though and the original skylanders apparently intergrate with the Giants Game)

the $14.99 little figurine is the game piece. $14.99 is the regular price of them.

I didn't know that about the giants not working with the original! Annoyed! Thanks for posting that. All the ones I bought are going back now because I am not shelling out $80.00 again for a new game and portal.

You don't have to buy a new portal to use the Giants - just need to buy the game. The actual portal works for both games. There is a portal owners pack where you just get the game and figure(s). But seems like the portal owners pack isn't going on sale but the whole thing with portal has been. It is usually about $79 but I bought at TRU for $49 last week and over the weekend just saw it for $39 at Walmart so ordered that and am returning the TRU one once it comes in.
And Skylanders figures are about $9 (without a sale) and the larger sized ones are about $14 so yes the OP that is the right price for the figure.
