Car seat installation/inspection
DH installed the car seat in our car. Now, do we have to get the car seat inspection?? Is this mandatory or optional for peace of mind??

I never heard that you have to get it inspected but one of my friends told us that if you bring it to a body shop they will make sure it's put in correctly.

I never heard that you have to get it inspected but one of my friends told us that if you bring it to a body shop they will make sure it's put in correctly.
It is optional, but worth it if you can especially if it is you're 1st DC. You will learn if it is done correctly, and if it isn't they will show you how to correct your errors so it is done correctly the next time.
As far as bringing it to a body shop...I would NEVER do this unless it is a certified far seat inspector. If you do you might as well be asking a random person on the street IMO.

I agree...when my first DD was born in 2010, I had called the Garden City Police Dept because they were listed, and they said they didn't do that...not sure I believed it, but I said, forget it, I go to Chris Mistron...he's awesome!

we did it and i am glad we did bc our was no where near tight enough and she showed us how to do everything right/toys to use not to use etc

hmm, that's interesting bc we were just told at a birthing class that Garden City PD would be able to do the installation also. Who is Chris Mistron? located in Nassau? Does anyone know how much installers are charging?? THANK YOU!

He's in Hicksville. Look for the username carseatsafety on here, you should be able to find his number. It's free to have your seat checked or installed. You just need an appt at most places.

Many police officer ARE certified inspectors! we attend a week long school just on car seat installation. There is usually only a handful of officers at each precinct that are certified, so you can call and make an appointment. Good luck!!!
