weaning off reflux meds

My son is 7 1/2 months and is on omeprazole (prilosec compound form). He gets 1.8ml twice a day. So once in the morning and once at night.

We haven't given him the night time dose in over 2 weeks and he's been doing fine with it. I don't see any signs of the reflux coming back.

So now he's on the morning dose... 1.8ml

Do i just stop the morning dose? or do i cut it in half and only give .9ml for a week and then drop it?

I've left messages for the GI about it and haven't gotten a call back about it. They keep pushing me to come in (i live an hour and a half away) but that's not happening.

DS was also on omeprazole and after we went down to one morning dose, I cut it in half for a week then stopped it all together and he was fine. I also had issues getting an answer from the GI so I spoke to our pediatrician and he told me what to do. Good luck and I hope your baby will be med free soon!

My ds was on zantac 3x a day. At 4 months we cut out the afternoon dose. 2 weeks later we cut out the morning dose. 2 weeks after that we lowered the pm dose. 1week after that he was off of it & was fine.
