Napping at 2 months?

DD is 2 months old and just started transitioning into a wakeful period after being fed. Sometimes she'll doze off for a couple mins. Other times she's wide awake. My question is... How long should she stay awake before I try to get her to nap again?

I let my DS nap when he is tired. I don't try and get him to sleep because it is just more aggravation than its worth. He would play until he was tired.

It varies. Just watch for signs that she's tired like yawning, fussing or disengaging from what you're doing. At that age she'd typically last 20-30 minutes. Now at 4 months she lasts an hour or more at times.

I go by the rule of no more than two hours awake before I put DS down to sleep again. He is also two months old.

Re: Napping at 2 months?

for my boys, i always had to go by the clock and not tired cues. Once they showed signs of tired cues, they were already overtired.

at 2 months, my son could only stay away for like an hour at most. Even now at 6 months old, he can still only do an hour and a half of awake time. Chat Icon
