Important Message RE: PostPartum Depression

North Shore/LIJ Hospitals are trying to raise awareness of PostPartum Depression. Any of those who have suffered from it themselves or had a close friend dealing with it knows how difficult it can be. On top of the stress of having a new baby, not being able to connect with that baby makes things 1000 times harder. Please watch the video, read the info and pledge to "Ask the Question" to any new mom you may know.....and listen to the answer!

Thanks!

Thanks Gerty! and thanks to everyone who takes the pledge. Its simple, its easy, its free. The only required info is your first name, you can leave the rest blank.

The main goal.... to help spread awareness. The only thing you have to do is be aware PPD effects nearly 1 in 5 new mothers. And Ask the Question! Ask them how they are feeling, so they dont have to suffer in silence.

The goal is to pledge 15,000 people in the first year which is the number of births in nassau county each year.

Please take the pledge and help a new mom in your life.

Re: Important Message RE: PostPartum Depression

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
I have been on a mission to make new mom as more aware of what ppd really is. It took me 6months to realize that's what I was dealing with. That's time I can never get back.
So glad they are running this program Chat Icon

Re: Important Message RE: PostPartum Depression

thanks for posting this...

i suffered for almost an entire year before i knew that i did indeed have PPD. it's soo important to ask someone how they are doing. it's always how's the baby, aw, the baby is this or that... and no one asks how you are, which is one of the reasons i think people suffer silently because there isn't supposed to be something "wrong" with Mom. i know make a conscious effort to not just ask about the baby, but about mom, too. just by asking, you could really be giving someone an opportunity to share what might be going with them.

Important Message RE: PostPartum Depression

This is great. I had a ton of depression for the two weeks after my baby was born and still have a tiny bit here and there at almost four weeks but I know this is normal and not PPD but it really scared me at first. I can't imagine having this with no end in sight.
