Another name spinoff (but for btdt)
I don't LOVE any names. Nothing really stands out to me like I can live with a child with that name forever. If you settled in a name or weren't crazy about it but named baby it anyway, did it grow on you so you ended up loving it since it's your Childs name.
I know I'm really early thinking about names but I feel like we will never find names. I'm sure it's not helping that DH won't share his opinion.

My DH only liked two boys names that I would even consider. Neither were my top picks so I was so stressed about what we would name DS. We went in there thinking we would name him Lucas but when I saw him, I just knew in my heart he was a Ryan (dh's other pick). It was a name I would have never considered before but it fit him so perfectly and now I love the name.

That might be what it is. I keep envisioning these babies running around and calling them these names but it just doesnt feel like it's supposed to be their names. I know we will have a few options and decide when they are born but I can't even come up with a few choices.

Re: Another name spinoff (but for btdt)
I grew up loving the name Melina. I always imagined naming my daughter that. When my grandfather was laying unconscious in the hospital dying, I remember whispering to him that I would name my daughter after him someday, thinking that would be the name. (It was before DH and I were married or anything.)
When we were discussing names, I told DH about Melina and he said "I don't love that... what about Megan" -- and I immediately loved it. It goes so well with our last name, and I loved that it was a name we picked together. I still got to name my daughter after my grandfather.
For middle names, I wanted an R after my grandmother. MIL was diagnosed with brain cancer just a few weeks before we found out we were pregnant and her name is Rosy... so it was perfect to use Rose for the middle name.
I absolutely adore my daughter's name. Every time I call her name, read it, see it, write it, I LOVE it.
I have a feeling with DS it's going to be a little different. Right now, I have a name I like a lot. DH is kinda ambivalent. I think it goes pretty well with our family name and DD's name, though, and the more I think about it, the more I like it. So we'll see. But I have a feeling it'll be more like what you're describing this time.
Take more time... see what grows on you. Maybe he'll surprise you and you'll just know it's perfect.

Yeah, if you search my posts from 3 years ago I was really stressing about names and asked the same thing all the time. I agreed very begrudgingly (sp?) to name my first after my ILs.
DS is almost 2.5 yo and I can't imagine him as anything else. And now I get to name this and every one after whatever I want!

Re: Another name spinoff (but for btdt)
I always knew Emerson would be Emerson. Since we were team green the 2nd time around I had NOOOO girls names that I truly loved. (I've had a million boys names that I've LOVED forever now) I delivered and they said "it's a girl" and I thought "oh this poor child will be nameless" . 10 min later jimmy looked at me and said "what about Peyton?" I was so tired that I couldn't think straight and said "yea yea that sounds good"
Then when I had a moment to myself I was like Ugh I really shouldn't have agreed to it . But it was too late lol and now I can't picture her as anything else

Re: Another name spinoff (but for btdt)
I had no idea what to name our dd. I was on the OR table and my ob told me he wouldn't deliever dd if I didn't come up with a name lol. We had talked about some names but I loved nothing. I thought maybe I'd like something classic sounding but wasn't entirely sure. As I was being cut open I told DH we are naming her Emily Kate. Now I love it because its my dd name. Its who she is so I can't ever imagine her being something else. This time I have a first name I like but once again I'm not sure I love it. However DH and I only agree on this one name so I'm going with it. I'm sure once my dd is born and we call her by her name I'll love it too.

I also don't LOVE any names. I can't seem to find the ONE. I feel so stressed thinking about the importance of a name and how it is forever. I figure any name you pick, you will settle into and love but I can also see myself regretting it and that scares me. We have two names we both agree upon but don't LOVE and I have a feeling that it will be one of those names come delivery time. We are keeping our eyes and ears open for new possibilities but this is a pretty difficult job! The hardest thing about pregnancy for sure. I always thought I would enjoy this part but I am just not feeling anything and it makes me grumpy!!

Re: Another name spinoff (but for btdt)
Picking names is awfully stressful for DH and I!!! My DS didn't officially have a name until the day I was discharged and I HAD to fill out his birth certificate paperwork lol. But honestly, we had a list of maybe 5-7 boy names (we were team green) and the moment he came out of me and they said it's a boy, I just KNEW his name. We took a few days to make sure it fit him and we were sure, but I just knew.
With this baby, we have a short list of names and said we'll choose when she's born and we see her. We are both leaning towards one name. My thing is I would feel so bad if anyone hated the name or said something bad about it. I know that's so silly, but I don't want anything negative associated with the baby KWIM? So I'm afraid of choosing the wrong name.
FWIW, the name we picked for DS fits him PERFECTLY and everyone told us they loved it. Hopefully we'll have a similar experience with DD.

Re: Another name spinoff (but for btdt)
We had a really hard time deciding on the name Jack for my son. My DH and I had our lists and it was the only one we could agree on. It wasn't #1 to either of us but it's what we went with.
Fast forward a year, we love it! This child was born to be Jack.
One test I was doing with names when trying to decide was to yell the name. "Jack, get over here!" "Jack, stop doing that!" It worked b/c that's all I ever do these days.

Re: Another name spinoff (but for btdt)
I will preface this by saying I do and always did love my sons name, it is family name for both of us and a nice, classic (though not really common nowadays) name.
That said I wanted something more unique, DH was on the fence bw our unique choice and our classic choice. Ultimately we went classic bc DH really wanted it that way. Middle name is for my father which is another nice, classic name.
EVERYONE says my son is sooo his name. And he really is so even though I was wasn't 100% at the time, now I can't imagine him with any other name!

Re: Another name spinoff (but for btdt)
DH and i had been taling baby names since we first started dating. thank heavens we did because 10 months is not enough time for us to decide. we were team green and had a def girls name but a toss up between 2 boy names. i really thought my heart was set on 1 and we ended up going with the other option. the first few weeks of DS's life i was like eh with his name. now at 10 months, i just love love love his name. every day i love it more.
i think its hard for you to picture the name on an unborn child. you havent even met this little person yet! even at first when the baby is born and not doing much but sleeping and crying, you may not be crazy about the name. but once the baby starts to grow a bit and gets some personality i think you will be happy with the name you chose
