I would layer a onsie underneath when DS had 2 piece outfits around 6 mos. I want to say that everything up to the 3-6 mos size included some sort of onsie pants set. He was wearing 6 mos this winter, so anything that was 2 piece I layered. Now he's in 9 or 12 mos cloths and I don't layer, unless it's particularly cold or it's a button up/zip up type of shirt.

DD is 15 months and still wears them. She ALWAYS wears them under her PJs at night too- whether fleece or cotton

I stopped using them during the day at 9 months when spring rolled around. I used them this past winter (18 months) at night under pjs only. I hate changing diapers with them on.

As long as I can find them, I will use them! DD is almost 21 months and they go under every outfit! She fits into sizes 9 months to 18 months in her onesies. . .I am constantly on teh hunt for size 3T!
I just like that they keep her diaper in place, keep her nice and covered - i think of them as a comfy undershirt.
Same. DS is over 2 & I'm on the hunt for a couple of bigger sizes. I'll be using them until he's fully potty trained (which we're looking at doing this summer).
Just not a fan of the bare belly or diaper sticking out the back at all.

i still use them (he has one on today lol) and DS is 10 months. i dont like seeing his belly sticking out. i also feel that his clothes are always riding up when i hold him so that makes his shirt go up so i like having the onesie underneath. plus i can put him in long sleeves like today and then if he gets warm at the sitters house she can just take that shirt off

When it's cold I like them b/c they are covered - Sean was probably close to 2 years .......
Colin - eh, who knows if they'll still fit him? He's huge !! Lol.

DD is 11 months and I hope to keep using onesies for a long time. I like them and we always layer!

Until they grew bigger then the size they sell.
In warmer months, I only used them under 2 piece outfits. I liked keeping their bellies covered, especially when they were crawling.

only used the layering thing during the cold months which my kids were born in the summer so i used them as a shirt not as a layered thing during the hot months and then during the winter for the layering and then that was it.....so i would say i stopped using them around when they were in12-18/18-24months clothing

Peter is 9 mos. I almost always do except in the summer or on a very nice day with no wind. if it's VERY cold I put on a thicker long sleeve onesie underneath. right now he's got a short sleeve onesie under a long sleeve one piece or "jumpsuit" as they call them.
ETA: we do not however layer onesies under pajamas. Only daytime clothes when going outside.

My DS is 16m and still wears them. I will probably stop once it starts getting too warm... he rarely wore them last summer bc I didn't want him to get too hot.

With DS he was about 18 months!
The girls have a lot of 1 piece outfits (rompers and such) so I don't bother with them. They only wear a onesie if their belly might be exposed by the outfit. I hate people being able to touch their skin (aside from hands/feet).

Same here. DD is 21 months and has become a streaker! If she doesn't have a onsie on, I find her in her room stripped down naked! She can take all her clothes off, but hasn't figured out the snap crotch of the onsie yet!

as long as he's in diapers, I feel the diaper looks droopy and weird without it.
Hanna Anderson makes 3T onsies, pricey but amazing quality!
