Desperate for advice re: mommy's girl

DD is so attached to me. Sweet? Yes. Getting terribly hard to deal with 8 months pregnant? YES! We've been trying to follow everyone's advice of having DH do more with her, but it's not helping. If he takes her to the park she cries the whole time for me. If he tries to sit with her while she eats or help cut her food she cries for me. If he tries to bathe her, get her in the morning, put her in the car...anything...she freaks out. The only time she's ok with him is if I'm truly just not home. It breaks my heart but also freaks me out since we're expecting our second child in 6 weeks. He's going to HAVE to do all these things but these trial runs are not going well.

Any advice??

TIA.

I really don't have advice for you but just want to say I am in the same boat as you. My DD is very very attached to me and wants only me from the minute she wakes up. It is sweet like you said but very frustrating. I also have a 7 week old so she wants me even more now. She gets a little jealous when she sees me with the baby but I guess that's normal. I try to get her involved with the baby so she doesn't feel left out. I ask her to get the diapers, wipes, etc. I just think of this as a phase and one day I am going to miss her not wanting me any more.

Go out. Let her cry. Don't give her food if he doesn't cut it. Trust me... She won't die and its easier if you do it now.
Ds does this to... For whoever is taking care of him the most. He's done it for me, my mom and dh all one time or other. Started at 4 months and he's 19 months now. We had dd when he was 17 months.

She will adjust-- but it may be hard for her in the beginning. My DD went through a rebellious phase that is still going on I suppose, but it took a while for her to get used to the idea of sharing me with the baby and allowing other people to help her out. She will be fine, don't worry. Chat Icon
