Re: Frist words

She was 7/7.5m and said "dada". However I didn't count it as her first word since he wasn't there when she said it lol
She followed with: ball, cat & purple.

Re: First Words

DD is 9 months and still not using the words appropriately. She is understanding things now (like clap your hands, wave bye bye) but she still does not say mama or dada and mean it. I think they usually don't until later - like 10-11 months.

From babycenter:
4 to 6 months
At this stage, your child will start to babble, combining consonants and vowels (such as "baba" or "yaya"). The first "mama" or "dada" may slip out now and then. Though it's sure to melt your heart, your baby doesn't equate those words with you quite yet. That comes later, when he's almost a year old.

Re: First Words

DS #2 started saying mama and dada appropriately around 8 months- not sure exactly. He turns 1 next week and in addition to mama and dad he says in the correct context: nana (banana), ball, this (he points and uses "this" for any word he doesn't know), wawa (water), tooth (for toothbrush) and a few other words. He is much more verbal than my first son.

My daughter is 8 months and she just recently started saying babababababa lol other then that.. she blabs... but I don't consider that as saying words because she combines sounds together.

Re: First Words

She babbled for a long time but seemed to understand what it meant and said Dada to my DH for the first time at 8 months.
