Thoughtful? Or Cheezy?
It seems we have so many people to buy presents for this year!
And of course we are on a tight budget!
I was thinking of making hats for Emily's Dance teachers and Religion Teacher.
Her dance teachers are probably around 18 (main teacher) and 15 (helper teacher). Her Religion Teacher is my age --- a Mom whose kids go to the same church for religion...but she does have a funky style. She wears a lot of tye dye and sweats with uggs...very relaxed and casual and a little funkish.
So I make these hats. I have made a hat for my nieces, for my sister Irene who is 23 (that is her hat in the picture) and I have made a few on order for some of Emily's friends.
Would it be cheesy for me to make hats for the dance teachers and religion teacher? Or would it be thoughtful and appreciated to recieve a handmade gift?
I am just trying to keep the spending down a bit.
The picture is an example of the style of hat that I make, I'd probably do charcoal grey with a light grey flower to keep it neutral if I gave it as a gift to the teachers. I use nice, soft yarn. Image Attachment(s):

One of our younger teachers (early 20s) wears hats similar to that and I just LOVE them.

My sister is 23 --- and I made her a basic ivory hat like this last year, with soft yarn. It was ivory with an ivory flower and she picked out a navy blue button for the inside. She picked out all the colors and loves it. She said she gets a lot of compliments.
I know it is definately her style. She is an art teacher and very creative, down to the way she dresses. I just hope it is the other teacher's styles also! And I hope they appreciate it!

Okay --- I finished one of the hats ... so this would be the actual hat, in these colors.
Emily really likes them and she thinks her teachers will like them also, so I think I am going to go with it.
I was a classroom teacher for 8 years and although noone ever gave me a handmade gift, I think I would have appreciated it and I would have made a point to wear the hat during dismissal and stuff so that the child would see me wearing it.

I would NOT use the word cheesy. Your hats are very pretty. Only concern I have is if someone may not like that "style". So I wouldnt say cheesy, I would say its taste specific. So some would love it,and some might not. But I guess thats a risk with any gift.

I LOVE hats! I would so prefer a gift like this instead of a perfume set from Duane Reade!

They are beautiful! I would definitely think they will appreciate them. I gave scarves one year and I was so happy to see them wearing them at school pick up. :)
