Moms of cury haired girls.....
At what age did they get their first haircut ?
DD's hair is still growing "out" instead of down 
But it does seem like her hair is uneven and I was wondering if trimming it up would help...I'm so hesitant since she finally actually HAS some (well enough for little pig tails )
Also, any hair products you like to tame the frizzies ?

Im interested in this too. My DD hair is coming in wavy curly and I'm not sure what products I should use to keep it manageable.

Just let it grow, my friends daughter has extremely curly hair and that is how her hair came in as well. Once it grows in it will start to fall and start growing in that direction.

My DD's hair is very curly, and its only growing on top of her head...I need to cut some of it because it comes on her face.

i'm STILL trying to figure out how to handle it...
now that Em FINALLY has hair - it's curly & delicious :)
we use the no more tangles johnson and johnson spray daily. i spray it before i comb it (with a LARGE comb - meaning like only 4 tines and they are very spaced out) and only do that once, maybe 2 times a day (comb it, otherwise, it gets frizzy).
for shampoo - we're currently using a shampoo/conditioner combo - the Suave Kids 2 in 1 Shampoo Free and Gentle.
the 'cream' of the no more tangles product is very good too (and contains a conditioner) - but em's hair is VERY VERY thin and it tends to weigh it down, no matter how little i use...

We have still been using Aveeno on her hair  ...maybe thats part of the problem !

Do you use the same conditioner you use on your own hair ? Or something for kids specifically ?

I use tresseme for my DD. I'll post of pic of her hair.. she has ringlets and a TON of hair
Another tip is NOT to overshampoo.. unless they are sweaty or got their hair dirty, there is NO need to shampoo their hair every day.. so instead, I just rinse it and then apply conditioner and do NOT wash the conditioner out (focusing mainly on the shaft and ends)

The twins have extremely curly hair. Their hair grows like Mardge Simpson's hair.
If I comb it, it is tame for seconds before it springs back up.
At this rate they wont need haircuts until they are 18

And let me guess, like my DD every senior citizen you encounter stops dead in their tracks to tell them how much they pay to have hair like them ?
My DD gets it 2 fold because its curly AND its red !

I asked this question a couple of months ago and this was what I have taken from it:
1. Use shampoo and conditioner formulated for curly hair. DD has fine curly hair and I use the Johnson and Johnson one for curly hair. I use my panteen conditioner.
2. While the conditioner is in her hair I use a wide tooth comb and comb out any knots.
3. Do not comb or brush dry curly hair. If you need to, use the detangler spray and then comb.
4. Cut hair sparingly. DD had her first hair cut at 17 month even though she was born with a full head of hair. It was finally shoulder length then. She will be 2 at the end of the month and I am going to take her for her second haircut soon.
5. I use a lot of hair clips to contain her hair.

I've got the same issue here. Mady's hair is really fine though, so its not really growing "out" but its not growing down either. She's got a bunch of curls in the back and then a few strands that hang lower and are straighter.
We started using California Baby conditioner and it has really made a difference with controlling fly aways and frizzies. It is on the expensive side, but the bottle lasts forever.
ETA: I'm considering taking her for a haircut soon to even everything out.

I am a hairdresser and I hate to tell you this, but the best thing to do is to let is be and just let it grow. The only way that I would say to cut it, is if it was EXTREMELY uneven to the point you could not even do her hair at all.

Believe it or not, 3.5 years! My younger DD was only 2 since she had straight hair.
I use a children's conditioning shampoo and then my own conditioner...Pantene. I'll also use a spray detangler or a leave-in conditioner if she's going to wear it down.

And to everyone else to replied...thank you ! I'll start with some conditioner and go from there...
My DH is afraid about exposing her to the chemicals in our stuff, but I think for the small amount we will be using she should be just fine no ?
