scratched wood floors
We just had our floors done a few weeks ago and my DH was moving a fridge and decided to slide it on a sheet and there are marks on the floor..not really full scratches but I guess the polyurethane (sp?) rubbed off.
any tricks to make it look better?
I already tried murphys oil and it is not helping
love my dh but want to shoot him right now

i feel your pain, my dh dragged our christmas tree & we have a deep scratch in our brand new wood floor

we had our floors redone right before we moved in, and needless to say, we got a lot of scratches.
One thing our floor guy recco'd was to do another coat in 6 months in the high traffic areas-- I think that will help cover up some of those scratches.
In the interim-- I used Bree Wax on some of the bad ones, and it worked really well!!

My parents swear by this: Take a walnut (the nut, not the shell), and rub it over the scratch ... and it will disappear!!

I have also heard using an almond for scratches, I did try it and it worked. I think it depends on the type of scratch for it to work.

I've used these markers on little nicks and divots in our wood floor.

This is what we do. Works very well for our older floors that are oak, but we use the Guardsman pens for our prefinished cherry floor.

My dh owns a flooring company so I asked him and he said to lighty sand the spot till it's smooth and flat, than lighty brush on the poly that the company used (oil or waterbase) that's if it's natural. If it stain, than lightly sand it, apply the color stain they used than the poly. If it is stained a touchup may still be noticeable but not terrible. Joe has a form btw on his website if u need more help www.avistaflooring.com hope this helped
